Week 9

Offense

QB Ross Carey, So., UW-Stout
Carey rushed 12 times for 161 yards, including a 61-yard scamper that set up Stout's second score, and completed 13-of-16 passes for 131 yards and a score as UW-Stout defeated UW-La Crosse, 35-28. Carey finished with 292 total yards of offense and had five rushes for more than 10 yards (21, 61, 14, 11, 34-yard touchdown). His 6-yard pass to Patrick Mengelkoch tied the score at 7-7 early in the second period, and his 61-yard run set up Craig Warminski’s first TD of the day to tie the score again at 14-14. Carey’s touchdown run on the second play in the fourth quarter gave Stout a 28-14 lead and capped off a nine-play, 99-yard drive.

OL Travis Berube, Mike Secord, Dan Weamer, Andrew McCann, Mike Durrell, Maine Maritime
The Mariners' line blocked for four 100-yard rushers as the offense averaged 11.6 yards per carry in rolling up a Division III-record 730 rushing yards in a 76-49 win against Coast Guard.

RB Joe Myhren, Jr., Springfield
Myhren ran for a career-best 170 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries, averaging 8.9 yards per carry in a 47-26 win against Ithaca. After an opening kickoff return by Jarred Burrell to the Ithaca 40, Myhren ran 15 yards and then 25 yards for the game's first TD 30 seconds in.

RB Alex Baronich, Sr., Huntingdon
Baronich set the Huntingdon single-season rushing record with 287 yards on 32 carries, while adding three scores, against LaGrange. His yards came without playing nearly the entire fourth quarter in a 51-13 Hawks victory. Highlighting his day was a 73-yard run, which broke both the single game and single season Huntingdon record, on the same run.

WR Reed Eason, Jr., Rose-Hulman
Eason became the first Rose-Hulman receiver in school history to cross 200 yards in a game with 225 yards on 15 catches with two scores. He also had six punts for a 34.7-yard average, three inside the 20-yard line.

WR Antwan Thorpe, Fr., Greensboro
Thorpe ran for one touchdown and was on the receiving end of another, in GC's 26-12 win at Maryville. He finished with 10 receptions for 177 yards.

TE Tyler Palin, Jr., Carleton
Palin was Carleton’s leading receiver, setting career-highs in receptions (10) and receiving yards (124) in a 34-17 loss to Hamline. Five of his grabs went for first downs, with his longest catch of the day going for 31 yards. Converted from defensive end to tight end this season, he entered the day with 11 career catches for 126 yards.

Defense
DL James Woodley, Sr., Widener

Woodley had a career day with 19 tackles, 14 solo, in a 24-0 loss to Lebanon Valley. He finished with five tackles for loss and a sack and a half.

DL Evan Wyler, Sr., Cortland State
Wyler led Cortland with eight tackles, all solo, and had four quarterback hurries in the Red Dragons' 30-7 victory over The College of New Jersey. His four tackles for losses included one sack. Cortland limited the Lions to 190 yards of total offense, including 76 rushing yards on 35 attempts. TCNJ entered the game averaging 38.3 points and 434.9 yards of total offense per game.

DL Chris Mayes, So., Wesley
Mayes led the Wesley defense with nine tackles, including eight solos as the Wolverines downed Salisbury 30-12. He had five tackles for loss as Wesley limited the Sea Gulls' 15th ranked rushing attack (260.7) to just 84 yards and 2.2 per carry. The sophomore also chipped in with a pair of sacks in the game.

DL Ben Tomaino, Sr., Hartwick
Tomaino had 13 tackles, seven solo, in a 33-27 win against Utica. He had four sacks and three tackles for loss, including a sack on fourth down which was Utica's final offensive play of the game.

LB Wyatt Delgado, Jr., St. Thomas
Delgado had a diving interception and stripped the ball from an Augsburg receiver at the goal line resulting in a Tommies recovery for a touchback in the end zone in Saturday's 42-3 victory. He also was in on four tackles and helped a defense hold Augsburg out of the end zone for the first time in 2009. The Auggies had 27 touchdowns in their first seven games.

LB Kyle McGivney, Jr., Luther
McGivney tallied a single-game career-high 23 tackles in a losing effort vs. Wartburg. He currently leads the Iowa Conference in tackles averaging 15.3 per game. He also caused a fumble and had three and a half tackles for loss.

LB Cory Olson, So., Hamline
Olson scored Hamline's first touchdown of the game in a 34-17 win against Carleton after he snagged an interception in the first quarter and returned the ball 39 yards for the score. He also had three pass breakups in the game and a forced fumble which the Pipers recovered. He added seven tackles (three solo, four assists).

CB Zach Autenreib, Fr., Thomas More
Autenreib had two interceptions including one that set up the Saints' go-ahead touchdown in a 14-7 win over previously undefeated Washington and Jefferson.

S Keith Anthony, So., Huntingdon
Anthony picked off three passes, and in the process, set a new single-game and single-season record (total of eight), in the Hawks' victory against LaGrange. All three of his interceptions came inside the Huntingdon 35, stopping potential scoring drives. He also added three total tackles.

S Cam Bramer, Jr., Olivet
Bramer had 24 tackles, 13 solo, in a 28-14 loss to Hope. He had half a tackle for loss and an interception to stop a Dutchmen scoring threat.

CB Jerry Bates, So., Greensboro
Bates had four total tackles and one interception in a 26-12 win against Maryville, the Pride's first-ever win at MC. Bates totaled two solo tackles and two assisted takedowns in the win. He returned his second quarter interception 55 yards for what would eventually become the game-winning touchdown.

Special teams
K Billy Daniels, So., Kean
Daniels connected on all three of his field goal attempts, including a 26-yarder in the second overtime to lift the Cougars to a 23-20 come-from-behind victory against Rowan. Daniels, who also nailed a 37-yard field goal in the first overtime, added a 22-yard make in the fourth quarter to trim the Rowan lead to 17-10. Daniels converted both of his extra point attempts and had an 80-yard punt that rolled inside the Rowan 10-yard line in the third quarter.

P Kurtis Brondyke, Jr., Central
Brondyke helped Central post a 17-0 shutout of Buena Vista with five punts for a 49.6-yard average, including a career-best 78-yard punt. Three of his five punts pinned Buena Vista inside its 20-yard line, increasing his school careeer record in that category to 53.

AP Jared Manzer, Sr., Alfred
Manzer set a school record with a 98-yard interception return for a touchdown in Alfred's 51-14 win over Rochester. He also caught six passes for 75 yards and two TDs on offense and finished the game with 230 all-purpose yards.

RET Fritz Waldvogel, So., St. Thomas
In a rare feat at any level of college football, Waldvogel returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown for the second game in a row to start the Tommies off well in a 42-3 win against Augsburg. After last week's 74-yard TD against Carleton, the sophomore dashed 87 yards to the end zone on Saturday's first play. The MIAC had gone 171 games without an opening kickoff returned to the end zone before last week. Waldvogel now has seven kickoff or punt returns of 55 yards or longer in his last 12 games, including five for touchdowns and his four return touchdowns lead Division III.
