Week 5

Offense

QB Matt Flynn, Sr., Gettysburg
Flynn set Gettysburg and Centennial Conference records with 519 passing yards, seven touchdown passes, and 522 yards of total offense in the Bullets 55-50 loss at Ursinus on Saturday. He completed 32 of 47 passes, setting a career-high for completions as well, while throwing only one interception. With his team trailing 55-23 with 5:31 left in the third quarter, Flynn orchestrated four touchdown drives in less than 11 minutes as the Bullets closed the game on a 27-0 run.

OL LT Ted Longabaugh, LG Andrew Wolter, C Tanner Martin, RG Will Taylor, RT Brad Eckelmann, Carleton
On a wet, muddy field, the Carleton offensive line helped the Knights rush for 129 yards and two touchdowns in a 17-13 win over rival St. Olaf. The raw total is low, but it was nearly triple the average St. Olaf had allowed coming into the game. Additionally, tackle Brad Eckelmann scored the game-winning touchdown on a designed 5-yard lateral in the fourth quarter. With the victory, Carleton maintained possession of the famed Goat Trophy.

RB Levell Coppage, So., UW-Whitewater
Coppage tied the school record for four touchdowns in a game, a feat he performed twice in the 2008 season. He carried 27 times for 168 yards in the 35-3 win against UW-Platteville.

RB Jared Chunn, Sr., Kean
For the fourth time in his career, and second straight time against The College of New Jersey, Chunn rushed for more than 200 yards, carrying the ball 22 times for 210 yards and two touchdowns in Kean's 28-7 win over previously unbeaten TCNJ. In the second quarter, Chunn somehow managed to stay on his feet, escaping a host of Lion tacklers and breaking free for a career long 62-yard touchdown run for the first score of the game. In the second half, Chunn added a 36-yard TD run to extend the Kean lead to 21-7.

WR Tim Queck, So., Hamline
Queck racked up 184 yards on seven catches and added 28 yards on kick returns for 212 all-purpose yards on the day. He also had an 80-yard touchdown reception that was the only play on the scoring drive. On the possession prior to Queck’s 80-yard TD catch, he was a key factor in allowing one of his teammates to finish his run on a 75-yard TD pass. On Alex House’s long run to the goal line after a catch, Queck’s key block at the 20-yard line stopped the final two Auggie defensive backs in pursuit. The 75-yard TD broke a 7-7 tie and put Hamline up 14-7, and the 80-yard TD gave Hamline a 21-7 halftime lead. Queck also had a 41-yard catch to start off Hamline’s final scoring drive that gave the Pipers the 10-point margin of victory.

WR Julian Ross, Jr., Beloit
Ross caught ten passes for 187 yards, including a 69-yard score that put Beloit up for good in the third quarter in a 29-22 win against Lake Forest. Seven of Ross’ receptions went for 12-plus yards and three of the ten catches converted third downs for the Bucs.

WR Earl Peoples, Jr., Randolph-Macon
Peoples caught an ODAC-record 20 passes for a school-record 295 yards as the Yellow Jackets held off Washington and Lee 21-13 in Ashland on Saturday afternoon. Peoples’ 20 catches ranks third all-time in NCAA Division III single game history.

Defense
DL Matt Frelich, Sr., Lawrence

Frelich scored his first career touchdown when he dropped into coverage and intercepted a pass near the sideline and returned it 13 yards for a touchdown. It also was his first career interception. He also caused a fumble. He had eight tackles, seven solo, three tackles for loss and two sacks.

DL Jacob Bloomhuff, Sr., Washington and Jefferson
Bloomhuff set a career high with 4.5 tackles for a loss on a defense which recorded seven total sacks in a 31-10 win against Geneva. He finished with eight tackles, four solo.

DL Chris Mayes, So., Wesley

LB Bobby Somerville, Jr., Cortland State
Somerville made a team-high nine tackles in Cortland's 42-13 win at Buffalo State. He forced a fumble which he recovered for a 9-yard TD that gave the Red Dragons a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter.

LB Brian Bode, Jr., Buena Vista
Bode led the Beaver defense in a 27-13 win over Loras, setting career-highs in total tackles (14), tackles for loss (4), and sacks (3). As a team, the Beavers allowed a season-low 226 yards of total offense.

LB Willie Hayes, So., North Central (Ill.)
Hayes intercepted a pass deep in Millikin territory to set up a North Central score on the next play in the first quarter, then stripped the ball and returned the fumble 32 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.

LB Jake Dezell, Sr., Howard Payne
Dezell anchored an HPU defense that forced seven Texas Lutheran turnovers. In the 45-23 HPU win, Dezell recorded five solo tackles, had one interception, two quarterback hurries, and recovered a TLU fumble in the end zone for a TD.

CB Taylor Trout, So., Wooster
In his first career start, Trout intercepted a pass and returned it 94 yards for a touchdown (also a career first). He recorded five tackles, three solo, in a 49-3 win against Earlham.

S Thomas Wrona, Jr., DePauw
Wrona had seven tackles, six solo, and also stopped Millsaps from two-point conversion with his tackle inside the 5-yard line with 3:37 left. The defense held Millsaps to 20 rushing yards which was its lowest output since 2006.

S Aaron Shoemaker, So., Trine
Shoemaker recorded 20 tackles, 17 of them solo and three for loss, as Trine defeated Hope 38-35.

CB Cody Kielsa, Fr., Hamline
Kielsa had six breakups and nine tackles, seven solo, in a 38-28 win against Augsburg. He was the key factor in preventing Augsburg touchdowns on long pass and rush attempts in three drives -- posting solo tackles or break-ups to prevent the score.

Special teams
K Jeremy Howard, Jr., Trine
Howard was 5-for-5 on PATs and had a 46-yard field goal to lift Trine to its 38-35 win against Hope.

P William Lawrimore, Sr., Millsaps
Lawrimore had five punts for a 46.2-yard average in a loss at DePauw, including two inside the 20 and a season-long 62-yarder. On the year, Lawrimore has placed 13 punts inside the 20 (four inside the five), tops in the SCAC.

RET Wes Chamblee, Jr., Wabash
Chamblee posted the fifth-best all-purpose yardage total in Wabash history with 272 total yards vs. Allegheny. HIs 86-yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter against Allegheny broke a scoreless tie and started the Little Giants toward their 37-3 victory. Chamblee also led all Wabash receivers with a career-best nine receptions. He finished with a total of 153 receiving yards.
