Games of Oct. 10-11, 2014

Offense

QB Lemar Johnson, Sr., Morrisville State
Johnson completed 26 of 38 passes for a season high 302 yards passing, and two touchdowns in a 37-31 win over Kean. He added a team high 129 yards rushing on 17 carries for a score, one that came on fourth down and included a hurdle over a safety into the end zone for the go-ahead tally early in the fourth quarter. Johnson averaged 7.6 yards per carry and 7.9 yards per attempt on the day, accounting for 431 of the team's 592 yards total offense.

OL Alex Ohlendorf, Peter Clancy, Austin Crist, Garrett Myers, Joshua Boren, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
The Stags' front line paved the way for 312 rushing yards, nearly 140 yards more than their season average, in a 40-24 win vs. La Verne.

RB Dylan Jones, Sr., Willamette
Jones rushed for a school record 350 yards on 30 carries and scored touchdowns on runs of 67, 75 and 4 yards in a 61-45 loss to Whitworth. His 67-yard score was the game's first touchdown and his 75-yard run tied the score at 28-28. He had 200 yards on 10 carries at halftime. His final touchdown pulled Willamette within 47-45 with 14:30 left in the game.

RB Marquis Barrolle, So., Texas Lutheran
Barrolle topped the 200-yard mark for the third time this season, rushing for 247 yards in a Homecoming win against East Texas Baptist 55-49. Barrolle scored twice, on runs of 7 and 3 yards, and keyed a long scoring drive in the fourth quarter. As TLU drove 90 yards in 12 plays, taking 6:25 off the clock, Barrolle accounted for 44 yards on six carries and produced three first-down runs.

WR Rasheed Bailey, Sr., Delaware Valley
Another big effort, this time against a defense that was ranked in the top 10 nationally in a number of categories including passing yardage and that had allowed just 50 total points in its first five games. Bailey had nine catches for 195 yards and a touchdown.

WR Anthony Acevedo, Sr., Utica
Acevedo caught eight passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns as the Pioneers lost to Salisbury. Acevedo eclipsed 3,000 receiving yards for his career as he now has 3,006 in just under four seasons at UC.

TE Josh Riley, So., Cortland State
Riley led Cortland State with seven receptions for 86 yards in a 24-14 win at TCNJ. His 21-yard reception to the TCNJ 5-yard line set up the Red Dragons' second TD.

Defense

DE Spencer Smith, Jr., Rhodes
Smith had 11 total tackles, including four solo and seven assisted tackles. Smith recorded four tackles for a loss of 20 yards and wrapped up the Sewanee quarterback for three sacks for a loss of 17 yards. Smith also had a forced fumble that was converted into six points for the Lynx.

DT Brandon Thompson, Jr., Shenandoah
Thompson had five tackles, including three sacks in Shenandoah's 47-31 win vs. Guilford. Each of the sacks led to a punt or a turnover on downs.

DE James Dambacher, Sr., Illinois College
Dambacher had nine tackles (four solo), two and a half sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. With the game hanging in the balance in the fourth quarter of a 31-24 win, Dambacher ended one Monmouth drive with a fumble recovery after a bad option pitch. Later on, he had a sack on a fourth down attempt, and added another sack on a first down when the Scots had possession in the final two minutes.

LB Michael Sahli, Sr., Carroll
Sahli spearheaded a Carroll defense that yielded just 197 yards against St. Norbert in the Pioneers' 30-6 victory. He had 10 total tackles, six solo, while recording two and a half sacks.

LB Jackson Garrey, So., Chicago
Garrey had 14 tackles, two and a half for loss, and a sack as UChicago's defense held its fourth opponent of the season to fewer than 230 yards of total offense.

LB Zach Brownell, Sr., Huntingdon
Brownell set the tone for the Hawks with nine tackles, two sacks and four tackles for loss in a 51-31 win over Christopher Newport. Brownell recovered a fumble, his third fumble recovery in four games, to set up the Hawks' third touchdown and make it a 21-3 game in the first quarter.

LB Brad Swavel, Bluffton
Swavel finished with nine tackles to go along with an interception, a forced fumble, a breakup and a fumble recovery in Bluffton's 31-17 victory at Rose-Hulman on Saturday.

CB Shaquille Brummitt, Jr., Mass-Dartmouth
Brummitt recorded a career-high three interceptions to lead the Corsair defense, stopping three consecutive Bear drives in UMD territory to preserve the win. He also registered a tackle and a pass breakup.

S Eric Gargiulo, Jr., Montclair State
Gargiulo tied a Division III record with five interceptions in the Red Hawks' 35-15 win at Southern Virginia. Gargiulo became the first Division III player to accomplish the feat since Ben Matthews of Bethel did it against Gustavus Adolphus in September 2000. Two of his interceptions were turned into Red Hawk touchdowns and he also broke up two passes giving him seven passes defended on the day.

S Mitch Thomas, Jr., Buffalo State
Thomas had a team-best 11 tackles to go with two interceptions in Buffalo State's 38-27 victory at No. 13 Ithaca. His first interception came in the end zone in the second quarter, thwarting an Ithaca scoring opportunity, and keeping the deficit just 17-7.  After a Bengals' comeback, his second interception, early in the fourth quarter, put the game out of reach when he returned it 26 yards for a touchdown to give the Bengals a 38-17 lead.

CB Brady Grayvold, Sr., UW-Whitewater
Grayvold opened UW-Whitewater's scoring with a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown and added a second pick later in the first half to help the team defeat UW-Stout 37-0 on the road Saturday. Grayvold also tied for the team lead with six tackles for the Warhawks, who held the Blue Devils to 242 total yards and forced four turnovers in their second shutout of the year.

Special teams

K Steve Crenshaw, So., Hendrix
Crenshaw kicked four field goals in the Warriors' loss at Washington University on Saturday. Crenshaw connected on kicks of 33, 32, 26 and 30 yards out.

P Stephen Amic, Sr., Bethany
Amic punted five times for a 45.4-yard average with just one touchback in the Bison's 19-7 win vs. Carnegie Mellon. The five punts were returned for a total of minus-5 yards.

ST Malik Gilmore, Sr., Albright
Gilmore blocked three kicks in Albright's 38-20 victory over FDU-Florham. He blocked two punts and returned one for a touchdown and also blocked an extra point. Gilmore blocked a punt and then recovered it in the end zone extending the Albright lead to 31-20 early in the fourth quarter. On the Devils' next drive he blocked another punt which set up Albright at the FDU-Florham 17-yard line and led to another Lions touchdown to push the lead to 38-20.

RET Damian Corredor, So., Kean
Corredor picked up a kick 9 yards deep in the end zone and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown at Morrisville State.
