Gutsy ... just gutsy

More news about: Frostburg State

It took a gutsy play call and top-notch execution to pull off the fake punt on your own 7-yard line, but that's what Frostburg State did as Dante Chinnery took the snap against Wittenberg and was never touched. It's the D3football.com Play of the Week. It's the D3football.com Play of the Week.

We solicit video of top plays from every Division III football program and this was our top clip.

Week 12 Play of the Week finalists

Here are some great plays which deserved extra mention:

Mauricio Garibay kicks a career-long 46-yard field goal with a minute left in the game, lifting Washington & Jefferson to a 31-28 win vs. Johns Hopkins. This play won the fan vote.

With Husson leading 23-21 and two minutes remaining, Springfield quarterback Jake Eglintine rolls out and throws a pass which is deflected by the Springfield receiver. Cornerback Quan Soyini dives and gets his arms underneath the ball for the interception, giving Husson the ball to run out the clock. It was Husson's first win in the Division III playoffs.

St. Thomas running back Tom Loeffler goes over the top of a Eureka defender on his way to a 27-yard touchdown, capping a 93-yard drive and giving St. Thomas a 13-0 lead in a game it would go on to win 47-8.

Duke Mackle picks off Hardin-Simmons quarterback Landry Turner and returns the interception 53 yards for a touchdown to put Linfield in front 21-0 heading into halftime. The Wildcats went on to win 27-13.

Union's Jack Reilly blocks a Cortland field-goal attempt but was unable to hold onto the ball, with Devin Smith recovering and running it in for a 4-yard TD to put the Red Dragons up 35-14 with 10:40 remaining in the New York Bowl. Cortland went on to win 35-28.
