November 9, 2024 UD Miscues Prove Costly in Narrow Loss to #11 Knights The University of Dubuque football team played one of their best games in their final 2024 game at Chalmers Field on Saturday and narrowly lost to the #11 ranked Wartburg College Knights 24-14. The Spartans fumbled twice and had three passes intercepted, but rallied on defense including a blocked punt for a touchdown to keep the game in sight through four quarters.
October 5, 2024 University of Dubuque Wins Homecoming 64-7 Over Luther Norse The University of Dubuque football team cruised in front of the largest crowd of the season during homecoming in a 64-7 romp of the Luther College Norse. The Spartans jumped out to a 41-0 halftime lead and never looked back. Freshman Joey Rhomberg tossed six first half touchdowns and completed 27-32 pass attempts for 316 yards.
September 21, 2024 Univ. of Dubuque Opens Conference Action with a 28-14 Victory over the Storm The University of Dubuque football welcomed the American Rivers Conference season on Senior Day Saturday on Chalmers Field. The Spartans trailed early 7-0, but rallied from behind to score 28 unanswered points to grab the lead and never looked back. Simpson scored on an eight play drive midway through the fourth quarter to slice into the Spartans lead as UD captured the league opener 28-14.
September 14, 2024 UD Football Lose on the Road to Pioneers The University of Dubuque held the host UW-Platteville Pioneers without a touchdown in the opening quarter and trailed by just three points. UD scored their lone score in the second quarter after Joey Rhomberg found Za'Cameron Brice for a 16 yard touchdown with 11:45. The Pioneers, who are are receiving votes for the top 25, held a 24-7 halftime lead before adding 14 points in the third. The two teams would both be held scoreless in the final quarter to end the game 38-7 in favor of the Pioneers.
November 14, 2023 Dubuque announces retirement of Zweifel Stan Zweifel, one of the most successful head football coaches in the history of the University of Dubuque, is hanging it up.
November 11, 2023 Football Ends Season with Road Win over Norse The University of Dubuque football finished it's 2023 season with a dominating road victory over the Luther College Norse on Saturday by a 42-10 margin. The Spartans finished with 543 yards of offense with 380 yards of passing in the final game for UD. The Spartans held possession advantage of 35:12 over Luther's 24:48. The Spartans never punted in the win.
