Football Ends Season with Road Win over Norse

DECORAH, Iowa - The University of Dubuque football finished it's 2023 season with a dominating road victory over the Luther College Norse on Saturday by a 42-10 margin. The Spartans finished with 543 yards of offense with 380 yards of passing in the final game for UD. The Spartans held possession advantage of 35:12 over Luther's 24:48. The Spartans never punted in the win.

Luther scored first with a 41 yard field goal with 6:23 left on the clock in the first quarter. UD held the host Norse to -7 yards rushing on the day and just 144 yards passing. UD scored in 4-6 red zone opportunities.

K.C. Moore threw five touchdowns and was 30-37 in passing attempts for 369 yards and rushed six times for 45 yards. Devin Moore ran the ball 10 times for 37 yards and a touchdown. Eric Evans ran five times for 31 yards and Fabian Jackson ran six times for 30 yards. Za'Cameron Brice led the receivers with nine catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. Hunter Preston caught seven passes for 95 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Nathan Beneke grabbed six catches for 48 yards with a touchdown and Torre Butts Jr. had six for 66 yards.Jamari Jenkins caught four for 41 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively C.J. Dean led with eight tackles. Ben Rashid finished with five, two sacks for losses of 22 yards. Garrett Hertzfeldt added five tackles with two for losses of five yards.Chase Stuver ended with four tackles with two tackles for losses of four yards. UD compiled five sacks against the Norse for losses of 37 yards. The squad grabbed 12 tackles for losses of 52 yards.Davien Flentroy picked off the Norse for the Spartans lone interception for the afternoon.

Liam Smith was a perfect 6-6 in extra points, kicked off seven times for 397 yards, and missed one field goal of 20 yards.

The Spartans finish the American Rivers Conference with a fourth place finish with a 5-3 record and end the 2023 season with a 5-5 overall record. All-Conference voting begins on Sunday and the announcement will be released on Friday, Nov. 17 at noon.
