Games of Nov. 9, 2024
The Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, is D3football.com's weekly honor roll, in its 26th season of recognizing the top performance at each position from the previous week. Players are nominated by schools.
Offense
QB Jack Curtis, Jr., Carleton
Curtis went 28-of-39 for a career-best 469 passing yards and seven touchdowns in the Knights' 51-17 win over Gustavus on Nov. 9. It was Carleton's first victory over the Gusties since 1996, snapping a 26-game losing streak in the series. Curtis averaged 16.75 yards per completion overall and 24.1 yards per scoring strike as his touchdown passes came on plays of 3, 15, 21, 17, 49, 39, and 25 yards. He also led Carleton with 54 rushing yards for a total of 523 yards of offense in the win.
OL Nate Graser, Aidan Glynn, Ryan Bitka, Jayden Lont, Cody Aikey, Cortland
Cortland gained 593 yards (an average of 6.7 yards per play) and registered 30 first downs in a 29-28 win at Brockport.
RB Montie Quinn, Jr., Curry
Quinn set the school record and ripped off the highest rushing total in Division III this season, going for 381 yards and scoring four touchdowns on 27 carries in a 47-41 win against Nichols. Quinn has rushed for 904 yards in his past three games.
RB Justin Edwards, Sr., Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Edwards rewrote the CMS record book on his senior day to lead the Stags to a 41-24 win over Cal Lutheran. After trailing 17-7 at the half, CMS went to a wildcat look for most of the second half, and Edwards had 219 rushing yards in the second half alone, finishing with 324 rushing yards on 34 carries, scoring three touchdowns, and also completing two short passes for 21 yards and receiving another one for six yards. The 324 yards broke the single-game CMS record by 50 yards, and he also went over 4,000 yards in his career, finishing the day with 4,106.
WR Josh Vitti, Sr., Nichols
The Nichols was powered by graduate student Joshua Vitti who broke a program record, thanks to his 17 catches, as he holds the Bison career mark of 182 receptions. Vitti's 17 catches also ties the single game program record. Vitti finished the game with 17 catches for 170 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught a two-point conversion in the second half as Nichols worked to keep pace with Curry in a 47-41 defeat.
WR Tyler Dimond, Jr., Carleton
Dimond was the top target in the Carleton passing attack, finishing with 12 catches for a whopping 282 yards, three shy of the Carleton record set by Jim Bradford against Gustavus in 1990 and the third-higest figure in MIAC history. Entering the day, no NCAA Division III player had more receiving yards in a game this season than Dimond's 282. This was the first time in five years that a Knight tallied more than 200 receiving yards. Dimond hauled in four touchdown catches on the day on plays of 15, 21, 49, and 39 yards.
TE Quamel Jarvis, Sr., Morrisville State
Jarvis posted six receptions for a team high 129 yards in a 14-11 win vs. St. John Fisher, scoring a touchdown. Jarvis' score came on a 39-yard pass play along the visitors sideline to put the Mustangs ahead 14-0 in the second quarter.
AP A.J. Jackson, Sr., Lake Forest
Jackson scored five touchdowns -- all five of his team's touchdowns -- in a 35-28 win against Monmouth that clinched the Midwest Conference automatic bid. Jackson had 28 carries for 159 and four scores on the ground, plus five catches for 77 yards and another score. Crucially, he set up the game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter with a 59-yard punt return that got the Foresters to the Scots 15.
Defense
DE Gavin Engh, Jr., Ripon
Engh five total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and forced a fumble in a 16-7 win against Beloit. As a team, Ripon sacked Beloit quarterback Jacob Shafer eight times.
DT Millicent Grear, Jr., Crown
Grear tallied 18 tackles, four of them solo, and added four tackles for loss and one and a half sacks in a 13-0 defensive battle, a loss to Martin Luther.
DT Jeremy McGuigan, Sr., Moravian

LB Harley Hopkins, Jr., Marietta
Hopkins had a game-high 12 tackles, eight of them solo stops, including a tackle for loss in Marietta's 28-21 loss at Mount Union.
CB Nazair Jean-Lubin, So., Cortland
Jean-Lubin intercepted two passes and broke up another in Cortland's 29-28 win at Brockport as the Red Dragons clinched their fourth consecutive Empire 8 title. His second interception came on Brockport's final play from the Cortland 33-yard line as he picked off a pass at the 12-yard line to seal the win with 11 seconds left. Earlier in the fourth he broke up a pass in the end zone on third down, helping Cortland eventually force a punt with Brockport up 28-26.
S Harrison Meyer, So., UW-Platteville
Meyer came away with two interceptions as the Pioneers took down UW-Eau Claire 56-14 on Saturday to secure at least a share of the WIAC title for the first time since 1980. The sophomore intercepted Blugolds quarterback Harry Roubidoux on his first pass attempt of the second quarter and returned it 65 yards down the 15-yard line to set up a UW-Platteville touchdown. His second pick of the day happened just a couple drives later in the second quarter and the Pioneers once again capitalized with a touchdown just five plays later.
S Matt Jung, So., Bethel
Jung recorded a pair of pick-sixes and added ten tackles (two solo) and one sack in the Royals' 49-16 win at Concordia-Moorhead on Nov. 9. Jung put the Royals up 12-0 in the first with a 31-yard interception before getting his second pick-six on the second half's first play, going 32 yards to the house. With Concordia at third-and-goal from the 2-yard line in the first half, Jung dropped the Cobbers' quarterback for a loss of 10 yards, forcing Concordia to settle for a 29-yard field goal.
CB Holden Gering, So., Williams
Gering recorded two interceptions on Saturday during a 21-0 Homecoming victory over archrival Amherst at Farley-Lamb Field. He also recorded a game-high 10 solo tackles, the most of anyone in the game, and also forced a fumble that was recovered by the Ephs.
