A tip for the trophy

The Dutchman Shoes is one of Division III's storied rivalries. But if you thought it might be a boring game, considering RPI was fighting for a conference title and Union came in winless, you would have been wrong. With RPI leading 16-10 in the fourth quarter, Engineers quarterback Jeff Avery looks for Logan Gaddar in the end zone. Gaddar is unable to bring the ball in, but it deflects to Matt Lane, who dives ... and comes up with the D3football.com Play of the Week.

We solicit video of top plays from every Division III football program and this was our top clip.

Week 11 Play of the Week finalists

Here are some great plays which deserved extra mention:

Down six with less than 90 seconds to play, Salisbury needed to convert on fourth-and-15 to keep their season alive. Ryan Jones looked downfield to senior Isaiah Taylor, who made an amazing one-handed grab for a 51-yard gain to keep the contest going. Two plays later, Taylor caught the game-winning touchdown helping Salisbury to NJAC automatic bid.

Kennedy Johnson returned two punts for touchdowns vs. Pacific Lutheran. This is the second one, a 53-yarder in Linfield's 38-10 win. More impressive because, well, it was the second one! They had to know he could go all the way and he did not give in.

Augsburg lineman Bob Rose took a lateral from Ayrton Scott and rambled for a 3-yard touchdown run on the final play of the first half, tying the game at 28-28. Augsburg won the wild game 49-42 over Bethel, rallying with 21 straight points to end the game.

Octavius Sanders picks off a Hope pass and returns it 98 yards for a touchdown on the last play before halftime, swinging the momentum and giving Kalamazoo a 24-14 lead in a game the Hornets went on to win 39-31. The win gave Kalamazoo the Wooden Shoes for a second consecutive year.
