More news about: Cortland

Cortland got the 2015 season off to a good start, as Jon Mannix came up with the much-needed reception on the final play of the game for the win. If this sounds familiar, it's because he did the same thing to end the 2014 season. And if you think you've seen it before, we've added a couple of extra angles. See how it happened below in the D3football.com Play of the Week.

We solicit video of top plays from every Division III football program and this was our top clip.

Week 1 Play of the Week finalists

Here are some great plays which deserved extra mention:

  • Catholic University rallied with three touchdowns in the final 10:05, including this pass from TJ Tutone to receiver Lucas Morley which turned into a 49-yard touchdown to give Catholic the lead with 13 seconds to play in a 34-33 win at McDaniel. Watch
  • Antonio Wood reaches around the defender for a one-handed catch, pulling in a 16-yard pass from freshman Connor Cox to give the Bobcats their first touchdown. Frostburg State went on to defeat Geneva 52-21. Watch
  • Jordan Young returned an interception 100 yards for TD, hurdling a would-be tackler on the way, as St. Thomas rolled over UW-Eau Claire 62-7. Watch
  • Frank Laterza intercepted his second pass of the game and returned it 84 yards for a touchdown for a 35-6 lead, the final points of a 35-6 win for St. Norbert over Carthage. Watch
  • Delaware Valley's Rashaad Lighty forces a fumble vs. Montclair State and defensive tackle Marc Isaac picks it up to rumble 50 yards for a touchdown Sept. 5, 2015, in a 27-24 win. Watch
