Keeping the play alive

Grinnell quarterback Sam Poulos escapes multiple Monmouth defenders and finds Cody Weber in the back of the end zone nine and a half seconds after the ball is snapped, helping the Pioneers beat the Scots 21-7. It's the Play of the Week.

We solicit video of top plays from every Division III football program and this was our top clip.

Week 6 Play of the Week finalists

  • With under two minutes left in the game, Lake Forest's Austin Sobey reaches back and makes a one-handed catch to convert a fourth-and-11 vs. Illinois College as the Foresters march on to score the game winning touchdown. Watch
  • Carnegie Mellon senior Kyle Irish found sophomore tight end Fred Bolio for a 13-yard score on a fake field goal, finishing the scoring in a 41-21 win against Denison. Watch
  • We can't do this without seeing at least one of the three "final" plays from the Bethel-Concordia game. Here Erik Peterson hits Jay Hilbrands for the touchdown with no time left on the clock, setting up the game-winning two-point conversion. Watch
