A one-man tip drill

With a playoff bid on the line, a young program battling some adversity needed every play it could make. Castleton State was without its star quarterback and needed an offensive spark. Tyler Carpenter did his best to provide it. It's the Play of the Week.

The Play of the Week is sponsored by the City of Salem, hosts of Stagg Bowl XL. Tickets on sale now.

We solicit video of top plays from every Division III football program and this was our top clip.

Week 11 Play of the Week finalists

  • Heidelberg lineman Quentin Rember blocks Baldwin Wallace's last-second field goal attempt, lifting the Student Princes to a 35-34 win and the program's first Division III NCAA playoff berth. Watch
  • On a third-down play, Widener's Connor Schlegel snags a pass along the sideline with just one arm and gets both feet inbounds for the first down and to keep the drive alive in a win against Delaware Valley. Watch
  • Junior running back John Wilson made a one-handed grab that set up a touchdown in Denison's 22-13 victory at Kenyon. The win kept Kenyon from grabbing the NCAC automatic bid. Watch
  • Union ended its rivalry game against RPI for the Dutchman Shoes in dramatic fashion, with an overtime leaping touchdown grab by Kyle Reynolds. Watch
