    The Utica College football team scored 33 unanswered points and held visiting St. John Fisher College scoreless for the final 56:52 of the contest to earn a convincing 33-7 victory in Empire 8 Conference action at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium on Saturday afternoon.  The Pioneers have now defeated the Cardinals in two of their last three meetings and they also claimed the second annual New York State Tool Believe Bowl trophy as the contest was dedicated to firemen battling cancer and underprivileged children from the Thea Bowman House.

Gaetano Stadium on Saturday.

    Utica kicker Maki Medici tied the school-record with five field goals, including four in overtime alone, but the gutsy effort by the freshman was not enough as host St. John Fisher scored a touchdown in the fifth overtime to lift the Cardinals to a 39-36 Empire 8 Conference victory at Growney Stadium on Saturday night.

    The Utica College football team kicked off its 2017 season with an impressive 20-7 victory over visiting St. Lawrence University on Saturday night at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. Utica did not trail the entire contest, holding the Saint scoreless for the first 53:43 of the game. Senior running back Nicodemus Gambill (Rochester, NY/East High) sparked the Pioneer offense with a career-high 161 yards rushing on just 16 carries and he also added two rushing touchdowns of 59 and 39 yards.

    The Utica College football team outscored host Hartwick College 27-9 in the second half to rally for a 52-40 victory over the Hawks in the regular season finale for both teams Saturday at Wright Stadium. The Pioneers have now won seven games for just the second time in program-history and will await a possible berth into next weekend's ECAC Bowl games. The ECAC Bowl game selections will take place on Monday.

    The Utica College football team defeated visiting Morrisville State 38-14 in the Empire 8 Conference opener for both squads on Saturday night at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. Utica quarterback Teddy VanGalen (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) completed 25 passes for a career-high 313 yards and two touchdowns as the Pioneers compiled 526 yards of total offense on the afternoon. The UC defense also forced a safety and scored a defensive touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the home team.

    The Utica College football team earned its seventh straight season opening victory on Saturday afternoon as the Pioneers topped visiting Misericordia University 42-28 on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. Five different Pioneers scored a touchdown in the victory; including a school-record 90 yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Jerred Beniquez (Port Ewen, NY/Kingston) to give Utica a 21-7 lead at the 12:50 ledger of the second quarter.

    The Utica College football team scored 24 straight points in the first half and recovered three key Buffalo State fumbles as the Pioneers snapped a three game skid with a 31-21 Empire 8 Conference road victory on Saturday. Utica junior defensive end Nick Woodman (Utica, NY/Proctor) had a banner day, tying the school-record with 3.0 sacks, and he also added seven tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
  • Salisbury Pulls Away to Down Utica in Empire 8 Play

    Utica College senior quarterback Connor Butkiewicz (Southington, CT/Southington) completed 26-of-39 passes for 367 yards and two touchdowns, but it was not enough as host Salisbury outscored UC 22-0 in the final 20:51 of action to pull away for a 36-19 victory over the Pioneers in Empire 8 Conference action Saturday.
