Venue: Oneonta, NY – Wright Stadium

Records: Hartwick (2-3, 0-2 E8); Brockport (5-0, 2-0 E8)

Recap: Visiting Brockport showed why it is the fourth-ranked team in the country on Saturday with a 55-7 defeat of Hartwick football in a game played at Wright Stadium. The Golden Eagles' defense, which entered the game allowing a national best -5.3 rushing yards per game, made it very difficult for the Hawks on the ground (-37 yards on 27 carries). However, 'Wick managed to throw for 297 yards and finished with 260 yards of total offense on a team that entered the game second in the country in total defense, averaging 167.5 yards allowed per contest. Brockport scored points on its first five possessions of the game for a 27-0 advantage early in the second quarter. After a fumble stopped the streak, the Golden Eagles scored three straight touchdowns for a 48-0 lead at the half. They closed out their day's scoring on their first possession of the second half. Hartwick got on the scoreboard on the first play of the fourth quarter on a 42-yard touchdown reception from Bryce Macina (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga Central) to Kishaun Bell (Beacon, NY/Beacon). It marked one of several big connects from the Hartwick duo. Kevin Roberts (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) added the PAT for 'Wick.

Notes:

  • Macina completed 14 passes for 294 yards and one TD with two picks
  • Bell finished with career-bests of five receptions and 138 yards receiving
  • Connor Darmetko (Menands, NY/Watervliet) contributed two catches for 67 yards
  • Ronald Ballard (Deposit, NY/Deposit) ran the ball 21 times on the daunting Brockport defense with a long of 11 yards

  • Josh Wilcox (Ithaca, NY/Candor) added seven hits and a half sack
  • Dylan Williams-Bachman (Homer, NY/Homer) had five tackles for the Hawks
  • Joe Germinerio led Brockport with 199 passing yards and one score on 13-of-16 passing
  • Brockport's defense accumulated 17 tackles for loss on the day. Tim Terry had six hits including 4.5 TFLs
