ONEONTA, N.Y. – The No. 4 College at Brockport football team put on an offensive showcase on Saturday, routing Hartwick College in dominant fashion, 55-7.

The Golden Eagles remain unscathed in 2018, with a 5-0 record, extending their regular season winning streak to a program-best 17 while boasting a 2-0 mark in the league. The Hawks fall to 2-3 on the season and 0-2 in Empire 8 play.

The Green and Gold posted points on every possession in the first quarter, with their three touchdown drives combining for just seven plays, but totaling 21 points. A two-play drive opened the contest, with Joe Germinerio connecting with Joseph Ortiz for a 35-yard TD. The following two touchdowns came on the ground, as Jala Coad used a 45-yard run to find the end zone and Joe Benedict capitalized on a Brockport interception, and put the finishing touches on the three-play drive.

Dustin Moyle had his work cut out for him, connecting on the two first half field goal attempts, a 21-yard boot and a 37-yard field goal. The junior was also solid on all extra point attempts.

The second quarter saw the Golden Eagles post another 24 points, with all three touchdown scoring drives coming on the ground. Brockport made quick work, with just 2:22 of possession equaling three different scores. Benedict worked his way into the end zone for his second score of the day, while Tyree Brown added a 31-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Germinerio added the final points of the half himself, posting a 14-yard keeper for the score.

The Brockport defense left no doubt of their dominance, holding their opponents to negative 33 yards rushing in the first half. When challenged in the red zone, the Green and Gold D stood tall, and held the Hawks scoreless.

The high scoring affair slowed in the second half with one more Green and Gold touchdown coming in the third quarter. Quarterback Jason Hellwig found Nicholas Bruce for the five-yard score and 55-0 edge. The Golden Eagles saw their opponents work into the end zone for a lone TD in the fourth quarter, posting the lopsided 55-7 win.

The Brockport quarterbacks put on a show, with Germinerio completing 13-of-16 for 199-yards, and Hellwig connecting on 6-of-7 for 61-yards and a touchdown a piece. A host of Golden Eagles saw action in the rushing and receiving positions, with Christian Hollister leading the ground game with 14 carries for 46-yards. Alex Benson and Bruce were the number one receiving targets, with four catches apiece for a combined 114-yards.

The defense also had a strong showing, with several Golden Eagles seeing action. Tim Terry lead the charge with six tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss. Lawrence Jenkins added five tackles, with two sacks and three tackles for loss, while Matt Arita and Alex West both came up big with an interception a piece. The defensive unit kept pace with their season average, holding Hartwick to negative 37 rushing yards.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action, again on the road, when they head to Empire 8 foes Alfred University on Oct. 13 for a 1 p.m. kickoff in Alfred, N.Y.
