Wrapup: Leb Val takes MAC lead, H-SC puts up big score

Lebanon Valley edged Delaware Valley in a crazy game and took control of the MAC on Saturday. The Flying Dutchmen rallied from a 17-point second half deficit and led Delaware Valley 31-24 with a minute left. With 0.1 seconds left, Delaware Valley quarterback Aaron Wilmer connected with Bobby Marterella for a touchdown and the Aggies elected for the extra point to tie the game. In overtime Delaware Valley's field goal hit the near upright and Lebanon Valley's Sean Fakete kicked the game winner from 26 yards out.

Lycoming's Craig Needhammer scored a touchdown with 46 seconds left to put the Warriors in front of King's 24-21.  But the Monarchs pulled out another late win when Tyler Hartranft found Justin Burke for a 39-yard touchdown with nine seconds left. It's five wins in a row for King's. Albright defeated Widener 33-19. Lycoming and Widener entered the weekend tied with Lebanon Valley for first.

Gallaudet won again in dramatic fashion. Trailing Becker by two touchdowns at the half, Gallaudet came back to tie the game early in the third quarter, then blocked  the Hawks' attempt at a game-winning field goal and Ryan Bonheyo ran it back 79 yards for the touchdown and a 40-34 win. The Bison remain unbeaten and can clinch the ECFC's automatic bid with a win next week vs. Anna Maria.

Alex Hallwachs kicked a 45-yard field goal with eight seconds left and Washington University kept its playoff hopes alive, improving to 6-2 with a 9-7 win at Carnegie Mellon.

After the unexpected departure of coach Todd Mooney and LaGrange's defensive coordinator, the Panthers' defense played better but Matt Mumme's offense didn't show up as Christopher Newport edged LaGrange 13-10. Texas Lutheran remained unbeaten, winning 37-27 vs. Louisiana College. Brent Peavy was 15-for-19 passing and Trenton White was 16-for-25 for the Bulldogs in the win.

Hampden-Sydney created a three-way logjam at the top of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, as the Tigers throttled Guilford 52-0 to improve to 4-1 in the league. H-SC, Guilford and Randolph-Macon are tied for the conference lead. Nash Nance threw for 197 yards and ran for 92 in the win.

Rowan made a 10-9 halftime lead stand up and edged Cortland State by the same score. The win puts Rowan in the driver's seat in the NJAC, as the Profs are tied with Brockport State at 4-1 in the league and have already defeated the Golden Eagles.

Corbin Clark caught a 26-yard touchdown pass from Taylor Nelson with 33 seconds left and Simpson came away with a 50-46 win vs. Dubuque, moving into a tie with Wartburg for first place in the IIAC. However, Wartburg has the head-to-head advantage from a Week 5 34-24 win and Simpson needs Wartburg to lose to Central or Loras in one of its remaining games.

Dexter Russell caught 23 passes for 309 yards and three touchdowns, although it still somehow wasn't enough as Greensboro fell to Methodist 51-50. Mike Barthelemy ran for five touchdowns and 120 yards as Millsaps defeated Berry 38-0 to remain unbeaten.

St. Lawrence clinched its first six-win season since 1991, defeating WPI 32-15. Senior quarterback Zane Fish passed for a career-high four touchdowns and the Saints' defense had five takeaways. The Saints hadn't won six games in that long, but they did go to the playoffs with a 5-5 regular-season campaign in 2010.

RPI handed Merchant Marine its first loss since the season resumed, 28-13, and its second overall, knocking the Mariners out of the Pool C discussion. Mass-Dartmouth held Western Connecticut running back Octavias McKoy to 123 rushing yards on 23 carries but the Colonials prevailed nonetheless, 35-12.

Even though the NEFC was cut in half and there is no guaranteed conference title game, there will still be a de facto NEFC championship game, as Endicott and Salve Regina both remained unbeaten in the league heading into their game Week 11. Endicott beat MIT 52-21, while Salve Regina rolled over Maine Maritime.

Freshman running back Chris Negron ran for a career-high 251 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and senior quarterback Robbie Moyer broke the Centennial Conference record with his fifth 100-yard rushing game of the season with 159 yards and two scores as Moravian defeated Gettysburg 41-21. Pacific posted the best rushing day since the program's return in 2010 on Saturday, running for 386 yards in a 68-28 rout of Lewis and Clark.
