Eight months after he came to campus as offensive coordinator, Matt Mumme is now head coach at LaGrange and Todd Mooney is out after starting the program and coaching it for nearly eight seasons.

Mooney, who stepped down along with defensive coordinator Terry Ursin, according to FootballScoop, did not return a call seeking comment. Mooney was the 2008 D3football.com South Region Coach of the Year after leading the Panthers from an 0-10 mark in the second season of the program's existence to a 9-2 mark in the third.

Mumme, the son of much-traveled former McMurry coach Hal Mumme, said in a school news release"I look forward to taking the helm of a quality program at a place that emphasizes both academics and athletics. And coming from a football family, being a head coach at a college like LaGrange has always been a goal."

The Panthers are 3-4 overall, 3-2 in the USA South.

Mooney spoke about Mumme's impact just two weeks ago in Around the Mid-Atlantic, saying: “I think, as coaches, sometimes we all worry about making changes. We felt like we needed to jumpstart our offense. The energy has been great.”
