Offense
QB Max Reber, Jr., Methodist
Reber was 20-for-28 passing for 292 yards and
five touchdowns and ran for 126 yards on 18 carries as well. Reber
averaged 10.4 yards per passing attempt and 7.0 yards per carry in
a 52-41 win that eliminated Huntingdon from the USA South
conference title race.
OL A.J. Short (T), Alex Manos (G),
Breen Cullivan (C), Anthony Latina (G), Jack Corrigan (T), John
Carroll
John Carroll has not allowed a sack in seven consecutive games
covering 234 passing attempts. Against the OAC's leader in sacks,
the Blue Streaks attempted 45 passes, completing 31, in handing
Heidelberg its worst loss in since Oct. 15, 2011. In all, JCU
racked up 475 yards and possessed the ball for more than 36
minutes.
RB Sean Dunning, Jr.,
Millikin
Dunning had touchdowns of 70 and 94 yards in Millikin's
35-32 loss to North Park. He ran for 278 yards on 30 carries,
taking him over 1,000 yards on the season. He also had two catches
for 27 yards and scored on a two-point conversion.
RB Jeffrey Dubose, Sr., Gustavus
Adolphus
Dubose set three school records in a 34-19 win over Carleton. His
264 yards rushing broke Gustavus's single game and season rushing
marks, while his four touchdowns gave him the school record in that
category as well. In addition to rushing 32 times for 264 yards, he
also caught four passes for 80 yards.
WR Jason Henningsen, So., Buena
Vista
Henningsen hauled in a career-high seven catches and finished with
a game and career-high 193 yards and two touchdowns to help BVU
defeat Simpson as time expired 34-32. His two touchdown catches
were for 26 and 78 yards. His 78-yard TD catch in the third quarter
gave BVU its first lead of the game, 21-17. He was instrumental on
BVU's game-winning drive which began from its own 20-yard line with
only 41 seconds left. He hauled in passes for 21 yards and a big
33-yard catch down to the Simpson 5 with five seconds left which
set up the game-winning TD as time expired. The win was the team's
first in Indianola since 1987.
WR John Babin, Jr., Cortland
State
Babin caught 15 passes, one shy of tying the
school single-game record, for 160 yards and two TDs in Cortland's
62-49 win vs. Morrisville. He caught a 2-yard touchdown pass in the
second quarter and a 33-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.
Babin has caught at least one TD pass in seven straight games and
16 of his last 17 games.
TE Kyle George, So.,
Wesley
George had eight catches for 143 yards and a touchdown in Wesley's
35-28 win at Division I FCS UNC-Charlotte. That included a key 39
yard reception on the game winning drive where the 6-4, 250-pound
sophomore carried several 49ers into the red zone.
Defense
DE Cortland Haines, Fr., Brockport
State
Haines had nine tackles, six and a half tackles
for loss and four sacks as the Golden Eagles shut out Montclair
State 24-0. He also forced a fumble.
DT Dwight Hentz, Sr.,
Lycoming
Hentz recorded eight tackles, five solo, in a
55-12 win vs. FDU-Florham. He forced a fumble, broke up a pass, had
two and a half tackles for loss and a sack and a half.
DT Alex Stewart, Sr.,
Millsaps
Stewart led the charge that stopped Centre's Harry Meisner on the
potential game-winning two-point conversion, blowing the play up in
the backfield and preserving the comeback win. Stewart also had a
sack and a half on the day, and two tackles for loss.
DE Peter Latham, Sr., St.
Norbert
Latham helped lead the Green Knights to their
first shutout in 26 games, registering four tackles, two solo and
breaking up a pass. He had three sacks for a loss of 27
yards.
LB Dominic Graham, Sr., Louisiana
College
Graham racked up 18 tackles in a 42-28 win over Mississippi
College, including half a tackle for loss. Graham has 35 tackles
over the past two games.
LB Matt Feeney, Jr., John
Carroll
After missing the last two games due to injury, Feeney came back
this week and led the Blue Streaks with 11 tackles; had two and a
half tackles for loss of 12 yards, including a sack and a half for
minus-11 yards.
LB Melvin Booker, Sr.,
Becker
Booker recorded 18 tackles, nine solo, and 4.5 sacks in a 20-3 win
over Castleton State. He had five tackles for loss.
LB Nick Slezak, Sr., North Central
(Ill.)
Slezak led North Central in tackles and tied a career high with
three of the Cardinals' 10 tackles for loss in their 35-16 win at
No. 19 Wheaton. Led a defense which limited the Thunder to 63 yards
and one third down conversion in the second half as North Central
clinched at least a share of its eighth straight CCIW title.
CB Phil Terio, Jr., Salve
Regina
Terio recorded a career-high 13 tackles, including nine solo and a
tackle for loss. He also broke up three passes in a 25-14 win
against Coast Guard.
S Alec French, Sr., St.
Scholastica
French led the Saints with 14 tackles in Saturday's
winner-take-all game at Greenville. French led a CSS defense that
held Greenville to 208 yards rushing. The Panthers had been
averaging a Division III-best 366.2 yards per game.
CB Derek Williamson, Sr., Mary
Hardin-Baylor
Williamson intercepted a pass and returned it for a
touchdown for the second consecutive game, becoming the third
player in school history to return picks for scores in back-to-back
games. He added four total tackles and a tackle for loss.
Special teams
K Beau Brady, Jr.,
Millsaps
Brady was perfect on the day, hitting both field goal attempts
including a 39-yard try with a minute left to tie the Majors at 21
with Centre. He also executed an onside kick that the Majors
recovered to make the ensuing field goal and comeback possible.
P Brenton Dudley, Fr.,
Millsaps
Dudley was pivotal in a game where field position played a huge
role. Dudley averaged 37 yards on seven punts but landed four
inside the 20- and two inside the 5-yard line. Three of his kicks
resulted in fair catches and Centre had zero punt return yards on
the afternoon.
ST Ka'Desh Edwards, Fr.,
Guliford
Edwards blocked a school-record three
kicks in Guilford's 38-29 loss to Catholic. He blocked two
point-after attempts and a 25-yard field goal.
RET Justin Howard, Jr.,
UW-Whitewater
Howard provided the go-ahead touchdown on a 99-yard kick
return in the second quarter of UW-Whitewater’s 17-7 win over
UW-Stevens Point to secure the program’s 33rd WIAC title. His
99-yard return is the longest in program history. Howard was vital
in the Warhawks first score of the game, returning a punt 45 yards
to the Stevens Point 4-yard line.
