    WORCESTER, Mass. - Quarterback George Marinopolous threw three touchdown passes and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) defense allowed only 162 yards of total offense as the Engineers defeated Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) 24-10 in the Annual Transit Trophy Game. Rensselaer, which now leads the trophy series 27-13-1, moves to 3-0 on the season. WPI falls to 1-2.

Serving in new roles on head coach Ralph Isernia's staff are Jeff Dittman, who is now the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator, Nick Marcella, the new offensive coordinator, and Keith Larson, who is now the special teams coordinator.

Not only did RPI improve to 8-2 overall and retain the coveted trophy for the fifth straight season, it won a share of the Liberty League title (4-1) and secured the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs.

    NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Austin Amery scored the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) football team scored 17 unanswered points in defeating Buffalo State College 20-13 in the Asa S. Bushnell Bowl Championship at Arute Field on the campus of Central Connecticut State University. RPI ends the season on a five-game winning streak, improving to 9-2 - which ranks second in school history for victories in a season, the third such time it has happened. Buffalo State falls to 7-4.

RPI improves to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the Liberty League, sharing the conference crown with St. Lawrence University. The Engineers, who have now won three consecutive Shoes games, remain alive for a bid in the NCAA Playoffs and will find out if they earned an at-large bid on Sunday. Union falls to 0-10 and 0-7.
