Montclair, NJ - Former Montclair State University football coach Rick Giancola was named to the College Football Hall of Fame ballot for the first time.
Giancola, who announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 2022 season, finished his career as the active leader in career wins in Division III and as the eighth-winningest coach in the history of Division III. He finished his illustrious career with a record of 260-143-2 over 40 years, including 179 victories within the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
He led Montclair to 12 NJAC titles and nine NCAA Tournament appearances while being named NJAC Coach of the Year 11 times. Giancola saw 26 student-athletes named to the Division III All-America Team and 25 of his players signed professionally. He is one of only two coaches in New Jersey collegiate football history to win 200 career games.
