CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands football team (3-7, 3-5) lost 24-0 on the road at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) Saturday afternoon as their season comes to an end.
The offense failed to score in the first quarter and the Stags scored a touchdown on their first possession, but after a Jaeden Thorn sack, the defense forced a punt early in the second quarter as the offense got the ball back.
After not being able to move the ball, the defense again got off the field before the offense put together their best possession as Isaiah Alvarado ran for five and eight yards while quarterback Will Reid found Deo Robinson for eight yards as it was 3rd and 1. On third down the Stags had a tackle for loss (TFL) that ended the possession.
CMS scored to open the second half and led 21-0. On the next Stag possession, they had a 3rd and goal at the Bulldog five. Justin Edwards ran the ball to the one before Chase Hunter forced a fumble that went through the endzone for a touchback which gave the ball to Redlands at the 20.
Now down 24-0, the Bulldogs got 17 yards on reception from Robinson on the second play of the fourth quarter. Two plays later Alvarado ran for 11 yards and a first down to the CMS 29. The drive, though, came to an end four plays later after a pair of incompletions.
On the final offensive possession Taylor Bowie had 23 yards rushing and Reid ran for 13 yards before another turnover on downs ended the scoring opportunity at the CMS 19.
Alvarado averaged 5.6 yards per carry and had 67 yards. Evan Aguon ended his career with two catches for 32 yards. Robinson had 28 yards.
The defense continued to shine as Maximus Susi had nine tackles and 1.5 for loss. Hunter had eight tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception. Craig Hunter made seven tackles and 1.5 for loss. Matt Lising had seven tackles and 0.5 for loss, Thorn had six tackles and 1 for loss, Cole Smith had six tackles and 1 for loss in his final game.
