No. 23 BW Football Rallies Past Marietta on Hall of Fame Day

BEREA, Ohio – The No. 23 nationally-ranked Baldwin Wallace University football team rallied from 14 points down to defeat Marietta College in an Ohio Athletic Conference and Hall of Fame game by a final score of 24-21 on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.

BW (7-1, 6-1 OAC) improves to 37-7 in the all-time series with Marietta (3-5, 30-4 OAC), including winning 14 of the last 16 contests.  At halftime, the University introduced the 14 newest members of the Athletics Alumni Association Hall of Fame, who were representing the Classes of 2020 and 2021.

Offensively for BW, junior quarterback Reese Wamer (Oregon/Clay) completed 11-of-15 passes for 69 yards with one touchdown and one interception.  Wamer also led the ground game as he rushed for a career-high and game-best 139 yards on 23 carries with a long of 38. Junior running All-OAC running back Jon Murray, Jr. (Cincinnati/Withrow) also rushed over 100 yards as he for 130 yards on 27 carries with one touchdown.  Murray, Jr. now has an OAC-leading 16 touchdowns.  Senior tight end Andrew Cregan (Navarre/Strasburg-Franklin) led the air attack as he caught two passes for 19 yards.  Defensively, junior linebacker Mason Levasseur (Panama City, Fla. / South Walton) tallied a career-high 10 tackles.

The Pioneers were led by sophomore quarterback Connor Vierstra as he completed 20-of-27 passes for 190 yards with two touchdowns.  Junior running back Bryce Agnew led the rushing attack with 38 yards on 14carries. Agnew also led the receiving unit as he caught seven passes for 109 yards with one touchdown.  Defensively, senior linebacker Vic Giovengo tallied a game-high 15 tackles.
