Coe clinched the Iowa Conference's automatic bid to the playoffs on Saturday, becoming the first team to punch its ticker. Meanwhile Alfred scored late to remain undefeated, Case beat a longtime conference rival to move to 8-0 and St. Thomas ground out a hard-fought win in the rain on the grass at Bethel in Week 9's Division III Top 25 action.

Coe rolled out to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, as the Kohawks improved to 9-0, 7-0 in the IIAC with a 48-7 win vs. Buena Vista. Gavin Glenn threw for three touchdowns and Brandon Roseberry gave workhorse running back Trevor Heitland a significant part of the day off, running for 113 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries in the win.

Rodney Etienne caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Johnson with 2:10 left in regulation to cap a five-play, 80-yard drive and give the Saxons their first lead since early in the second quarter and No. 15 Alfred went on to win 30-28. The game-winning drive began with a 48-yard run by Johnson from the Brockport 20. Alfred then sacked Golden Eagle quarterback Joe Germinerio twice before Liam Hobbins intercepted Germinerio at the Alfred 45 with just under a minute remaining. Alfred has a one-game lead on St. John Fisher with two conference games remaining, including the regular-season finale head-to-head with the Cardinals on Nov. 12.

Case rolled up 707 yards of total offense, including 435 on the ground, as the No. 25 Spartans defeated Washington U. 56-38. Case quarterback Rob Cuda accounted for 463 yards of total offense himself, 191 rushing, in the win. Case and Wash U. are playing their final season in the UAA, as each team currently plays for the automatic bid in another conference.

The Tommies finally put the game away in the fourth quarter in defeating Bethel 27-6. After the UST defense stopped the Royals on downs at the 5, running back Tucker Trettel took a handoff and scampered 90 yards up the sidelines for a touchdown. St. Thomas led just 7-0 at the half and persevered through a sloppy fourth quarter marred by 13 penalties. Bethel piled up 413 yards but took 97 snaps in order to do so, led by freshman quarterback Jake Marsh, who completed just 18 of 53 passes on the afternoon. Trettel had 17 carries for 132 yards and two touchdowns, while Josh Parks had 17 carries for 88. Joe Reed had a 74-yard touchdown catch among his four catches for 105 yards for the Tommies.

St. John Fisher kept pace with Alfred in the Empire 8 as the No. 24 Cardinals scored two touchdowns in a 69-second span early in the fourth quarter, doubling up visiting Ithaca 34-17. Matt Naton finished with 251 passing yards on 20-of-30 attempts, while adding 31 rushing yards.

Denison's stay in the Top 25 will be brief, as the No. 22 Big Red picked up their first loss of the season, 30-16 to DePauw. Matt Hunt threw three touchdowns, one of them to Andy Hunt, and ran for another himself. The Tigers defense picked off four passes and bottled up the Big Red rushing attack to the tune of 22 yards on 12 carries.

Devonte Williams rushed for 203 yards and a pair of touchdowns and sophomore Dontea Ayres rushed for three scores as No. 14 Stevenson moved within one win of its first-ever bid to the Division III football playoffs by posting a 41-20 victory over King's. It's the Mustangs' 10th consecutive victory.

Rodrick Payne rushed for 124 yards on 21 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns and the St. Lawrence defense limited Union to just 179 yards as the No. 14 Saints remained unbeaten with a 26-14 victory over Union. Dutchmen quarterbacks combined to complete five of 11 passes for 62 yards as Union only ran 50 plays on offense.

Derek Ledet caught 11 passes for 168 yards, Richard Johnson eight for 163 and Chase Sojka 13 for 109 as No. 18 East Texas Baptist outlasted Louisiana College 64-62 on the road on Saturday night. The biggest defensive play of the game doesn't even show up in the stats, as Louisiana College's swing pass on a two-point conversion attempt with 2:29 left was stopped a yard short of the end zone.

Trailing 24-17 late in the third quarter, No. 19 Salisbury scored the last four touchdowns of the game and pulled away to defeat Christopher Newport, 45-24. In the fourth quarter, CNU turned the ball over on downs, fumbled it twice and threw an interception.

The ranked teams all held serve in the WIAC, now that they're done playing each other. No. 2 UW-Whitewater had an easy time with UW-Eau Claire in a 48-6 win, No. 5 UW-Oshkosh had a big second half to win 41-10 at UW-River Falls and No. 11 UW-Platteville won at UW-Stout, 55-27.

Thomas More improved to 8-1 as C.T. Tarrant ran for 150 yards and two touchdowns in the Saints' 30-7 win vs. Bethany. The Saints, who are undefeated in the PAC, need to win at Thiel next weekend to clinch a share of the PAC championship. (Case Western Reserve is also undefeated in PAC play and the two teams are not scheduled to face each other.)
