September 21, 2024 UW-Stout Pulls Away Late from UNW Football MENOMONIE, Wis. – Looking to shake off a lopsided loss to Bethel the week prior, the University of Northwestern Football team looked like a different club to start Saturday's game at Don and Nona Williams Stadium. The Eagles held their own into the third quarter before the University of Wisconsin-Stout was able to pull away and earn a 56-19 win on its home turf. It was the final game against a non-conference opponent of the season for Northwestern.
September 14, 2024 Bethel Bests Northwestern in Reynolds Field Sell-Out ST. PAUL, Minn. – The atmosphere was as good as you'll find in Division III football on Saturday evening when the University of Northwestern Football team renewed a rivalry with an old friend, Bethel University. It was the first time the two teams, separated by less than two miles, had squared off since 1991, and the first time at Northwestern since 1990. That 1990 game would end up being the final game former Northwestern and Bethel head coach Chub Reynolds would ever coach, as he passed away from cancer just two days later. The strong ties made Saturday night's game, which took place in the stadium named for Reynolds, that much more emotional for both sides. After Reynolds' family joined the Eagles' captains for the coin toss, the well-over-capacity crowd of nearly 2,500 was ready for some football.
October 2, 2020 UMAC adds Finlandia for 2021 With the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference facing the potential loss of its automatic bid, the conference has turned to Finlandia. The program has won just two countable games in the past four seasons, including two winless seasons in the MIAA.
August 13, 2020 Podcast: Who's left standing? Very few teams are still in a position to play ball this fall, but we talk to two schools who just had their season dashed this week and one which is still on course. Adrian has 150 players on campus already and is looking to play up to its maximum five games ... maybe more?
October 26, 2017 Surviving the quick change There were quite a few late-season coaching changes, and it meant an end to one program as well as a shortened season for another. But the quick change in coaches, and the resulting domino effect, isn't always a program's death sentence.
April 22, 2017 Moore steps up at Northwestern When Kirk Talley left deep into the offseason, Northwestern found its next coach already on campus, where Matt Moore has been on staff for a decade and the defensive coordinator for the past three seasons.
