Berry Defense Shines in Gritty 28-21 Win over Centre

More news about: Berry

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry's special teams and defense delivered in critical moments, helping the Vikings secure a 28-21 win over Centre on Saturday at Valhalla Stadium.

The Vikings started strong with a 36-yard field goal by Trey Richards, but the Colonels responded with an 8-yard touchdown pass to take a 7-3 lead. Berry's defense quickly countered in the second quarter, with Cade Petty scoring on a 21-yard blocked punt return, putting Berry back on top 10-7.

Centre fought back, but Berry's defense came up big, forcing two interceptions and recording four sacks. Dawson Livingston led the charge with two and a half sacks, while Kristofer Thomas and Nick Willis each snagged interceptions. Berry allowed just one Centre score in the second half, keeping the Colonels offense at bay during crucial moments.

Berry quarterback Christian Lewis threw for 182 yards, including an 84-yard touchdown pass to Eli Warrington in the fourth quarter, which proved to be the game-winner. Brandon Cade paced the ground attack, rushing 24 times for 111 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown in the second quarter that extended Berry's lead.

This was a huge SAA win for Berry as it now creates a three way tie for first in the SAA. The Vikings will look to hold strong for senior day next weekend at Valhalla as they host Millspas College for senior day.
