League-Leading Lake Forest Beats Ripon

LAKE FOREST, Illinois — The Ripon football program faced the top team in the Midwest Conference on Saturday, falling to Lake Forest 66-0 at Farwell Field.
 
Lake Forest (7-0, 6-0 MWC) got the ball first and marched down the field in eight plays, converting a fourth down and scoring on a 17-yard touchdown pass to take the early lead. After Ripon (2-5, 2-4 MWC) punted on the ensuing drive, the Foresters went 68 yards, doubling their lead on a 24-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-0 over halfway through the first quarter.
 
The hosts converted a third and seven for another touchdown in the opening minutes of the second quarter to extend their advantage, and the score was 38-0 after the first half.
 
The Foresters scored a quartet of touchdowns in the second half to finish out the afternoon.
 
Aidan Keyes completed 7-of-14 passes for 35 yards, while Brady Immel was Ripon's top rusher (six carries for 25 yards). Eight different Red Hawks caught a pass, led by Cason Boudwine who caught one ball for 18 yards. Alex Mosqueda had a team-high two catches for Ripon, accumulating 17 receiving yards.
 
Defensively, Clay Ritschard had a game-high 12 tackles – his fifth game this season with double-digit tackles. Layne Marquez and Andy Ferrer both had tackles-for-loss, and Logan Vander Galien forced a fumble for the Red Hawks.
 
NEXT UP: Ripon goes on the road for the final time this season next Saturday (November 2) as the Red Hawks visit Monmouth for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
