UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University football team fell to crosstown rival John Carroll University on a late fourth quarter touchdown in the final Ohio Athletic Conference meeting and 36th edition of the Cuyahoga Gold Bowl Trophy Game by a final score of 20-16 on Wasmer Field inside Don Shula Stadium.
BW (4-2, 3-2 OAC) falls to 34-26-4 in the all-time series with John Carroll (4-2, 3-2 OAC), who is leaving the OAC after the 2024 season to join the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). The Yellow Jackets also fell to 22-14 in the Cuyahoga Bowl Trophy series.
Offensively for BW, sophomore quarterback Charlie Bubonics (Solon) completed 32-of-42 passes for 277 yards with two touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Vinny Lomeo (East Amherst, N.Y.) caught seven passes for 75 yards. Sophomore running back George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) rushed for 31 yards on 13 carries. Defensively, senior linebacker Devontae Jackson (Cleveland/John Hay) tallied a season-high seven tackles.
Offensively for the Blue Streaks, senior quarterback Nick Semptimphelter completed 19-of-30 passes for 240 yards with two touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Tren Montgomery caught four passes for 88 yards with one touchdown. Junior All-OAC running back Nehemiah Jenkins rushed for 63 yards on seven carries with one touchdown. Defensively, senior Academic All-OAC linebacker Tyler Thimons recorded a game-high 14 tackles.
