The game started with Berry College winning the toss and deferring, giving DePauw the first possession. Backed by a packed home stand, DePauw's initial drive was halted by the Berry defense, but they managed to score the first touchdown with a pass from Nathan McCahill to Robby Ballentine, putting DePauw up 7-0.
Berry responded with a drive that looked promising but ended with an interception by DePauw. Despite a valiant effort, Berry's offense struggled to find its rhythm, leading to a missed field goal attempt from Trey Richards.
DePauw capitalized on Berry's mistakes, adding a field goal by Matthew Berry to extend their lead to 10-0. Berry's subsequent drives were marked by turnovers and failed to make significant progress, leaving them unable to close the gap.
In the second half, the Vikings defense remained steadfast, but DePauw's offense proved too potent. DePauw managed to find the end zone again, increasing their lead. Berry's offensive struggles continued with a series of incomplete passes and a crucial interception.
The final quarter saw DePauw still in control of the game. After forcing a turnover on downs, DePauw added to their score with a safety, bringing the score to 33-0. Berry's offense had a few opportunities late in the game but was unable to capitalize, with drives stalling and another turnover on downs.
The game marks the fifth shutout in Berry Football history and the first one at Valhalla.
Berry looks to bounce back next weekend at Randolph-Macon in Ashland, Virginia, game time set for 12:30 PM ET.
