Titans upset No. 11 River Falls In Season Finale

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh football team upset No. 11 nationally ranked UW-River Falls in the final game of the season 38-31 on Saturday (Nov. 11) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The Titans (6-4, 4-3 WIAC) have beaten the Falcons (7-3, 4-3 WIAC) five straight times and have an all-time record of 30-36-1 against the conference foe.

Kobe Berghammer (Sr. • Clayton) completed 25 of his 38 passing attempts, throwing for 254 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 46 yards and one touchdown on the ground.

Trae Tetzlaff (Jr. • Waukesha) finished the day with 107 yards on nine receptions, including a 56-yard touchdown reception. Justice Lovelace (Fr. • Kenosha) added 95 a season-high rushing yards on 11 carries, including a 40-yard rushing score.

Eli Tranel (Sr. • West Bend) led the Titan defense with 12 tackles (10 solo) and two pass breakups. Kenny Satori (Fr. • Denmark) recorded five tackles, one sack and one interception. Jacob Mandella (Jr. • Brookfield) and Jhe'veon St. Julien (Jr. • Kenosha) each recorded one sack on the day as well.

Oshkosh started the game trailing 7-0 after a one-yard touchdown run from Kaleb Blaha put River Falls ahead. A four-yard touchdown run from Berghammer tied up the score on the Titans next drive.

An interception by Satori setup Oshkosh to take the lead and the offense was able to take advantage. Berghammer hit Dan Fynaardt (Jr. • Waukesha) for a two-yard touchdown pass to give the Titans a 14-7 lead.

Blaha scored back-to-back touchdown runs to bring the Falcons ahead 21-14 with 9:19 left in the second quarter.

Oshkosh drove down the field and Nolan Mobley (So. • Oak Creek) kicked a field goal with 1:42 remaining in the first half. St. Julien stripped the ball from Blaha on the next possession and Kyle Dietzen (So. • Omro) picked it up and returned it for a 65-yard scoop-and-score to give the Titans a 24-21 lead at the end of the first half.
River Falls scored first in the second half after a 34-yard touchdown pass from Blaha to Ethan Chromy, putting them ahead 28-24 at the end of the third quarter.

Berghammer hit Tetzlaff for a 56-yard touchdown at the beginning of the fourth quarter to regain the lead for Oshkosh. A few drives later Lovelace took a run 40 yards for a score to extend the Titan lead, 38-28.

Justin Scherbl converted a field goal for River Falls with 0:26 remaining, but they were unable to recover the onside kick giving Oshkosh a 38-31 victory.
