LANCASTER, PA – The Johns Hopkins football team swept the Centennial Conference Player of the Week awards after its dramatic 34-28 win at Muhlenberg on Saturday. This is believed to be the first time the Blue Jays have ever swept all three awards.
Junior quarterback Bay Harvey was named the CC's Offensive Player of the Week, while junior linebacker Cole Peters grabbed Defensive Player of the Week. Senior tight end Will Leger made it a clean sweep for the Blue Jays as he earned Special Teams Player of the Week.
Harvey was 23-of-35 for 245 yards and two touchdowns against one interception and he also rushed for a game-high 93 yards and a score. The 23 completions were a career high and his 338 yards of total offense was the second-best total of his career.
Peters rang up a career-high 11 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss, in the victory against the Mules. He also added a key interception in the victory. His interception came at the Blue Jay two-yard line to halt a Muhlenberg scoring threat early in the third quarter. Johns Hopkins drove the length of the field after the interception to grab a 21-14 lead.
Leger had seven receptions for 81 yards and two touchdowns on offense and scored the game-clinching touchdown on a 14-yard run on the final play of the game. On that play, a Blue Jay field goal attempt was blocked, but Leger caught the ball off the block and raced untouched into the end zone for the game-winning score as time expired.
Johns Hopkins (8-0, 4-0 Centennial) will return to action on Saturday, November 4 when the Blue Jays travel to Dickinson (6-2, 3-1 CC) for a key Centennial Conference game against the Red Devils.
