(MEADVILLE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University football team, ranked 24th nationally, traveled north to play the Gators of Allegheny College on Saturday night. The Tartans left Meadville with a 19-3 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory.

How it Happened

• On the third play of the second quarter, a 21-yard field goal by Allegheny's Garrett Paxton gave the Gators a 3-0 lead.
• The Tarans answered with an eight-play, 65-yard drive that resulted in a 4-yard touchdown pass from senior Ben Mills to sophomore Willem Bouma to make the score 7-3 with 11:25 to play in the half.
• An interception by senior Tartan Adrian Williams led to Carnegie Mellon extending its lead. Sophomore placekicker Justin Caputo drilled a 37-yard field goal four plays following the interception with 6:37 on the clock to push the score to 10-3.
• Sophomore Joey McGinnis IV finished off a nine-play, 65-yard drive for the Tartans with a 2-yard touchdown run for the Cardinal and Gray in the closing minute of the first half. The point after attempt was block which left the score 16-3 at the half.
• With 3:48 to play, Caputo hit a 27-yard field goal to push the Tartans lead to 19-3. His boot capped off a 16-play drive that took 6:20 off the clock.

• Carnegie Mellon total 305 yards of offense while holding Allegheny to 147 yards.
• Tre Vasiliadis led the Tartans ground attack with 101 yards on 26 carries.
• Mills passed for 163 yards and a touchdown, as the signal caller completed 17-34 passes.
• Senior Ethan Reifer ended with career highs of nine receptions and 112 yards.
• Defensively, the Tartans were led by Williams junior Vincent Ceci with five tackles each. Williams had four solo while Ceci had three. Six other Tartans each had four tackles apiece.

Game Notes

• This was the first game played between the Tartans and the Gators since the 2012 season. The Tartans lead the all-time series 32-20-2.
• Reifer's 112 yards receiving marks the second time in his career that he has had 100 yards or more receiving in a game.
• Williams' interception marked the sixth of his career.
• The Tartans have won 32 straight games when leading after three quarters of play.
• The Tartans have won 16 straight games when holding their opponent to under 300 yards of total offense.
• It marked Vasiliadis' ninth career game rushing for 100 yards and first this season.
• Vasiliadis moved into seventh place in program history in career rushing yards. He now has 2,152 for his career.

• "A huge credit to that win goes to our defense. With a lot of guys injured, some guys had to step up in the depth chart as well as play new positions this week. To hold Allegheny, one of the better offenses in our league, to only three points and 147 yards was a great team defensive effort. There is plenty of stuff we can improve on, and we will as we prepare for Thiel at home this week."
