PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- Allegheny College wide receiver Declan O'Brien (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) was crowned the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Offensive Player of the Week after a phenomenal performance against Waynesburg University on Saturday.
O'Brien helped fuel a 39-36 overtime victory over the Yellow Jackets by tying a program single-game record with 14 receptions. He amassed 169 receiving yards and scored two touchdowns, including the 19-yard game-winner on a third-and-15 play. Only one player in Division III had more catches than O'Brien did during the opening weekend of college football, and only five players had more yards.
The senior standout recorded his fifth career game with over 100 yards and his third with multiple touchdown catches in the 2023 opener. He also climbed into eighth place in Allegheny program history for receiving yardage.
O'Brien is the second Gator to win PAC Offensive Player of the Week since Allegheny returned to the conference last season, joining teammate Tre Worship (East Cleveland, Ohio/Shaw), who was recognized after rushing for 201 yards against Waynesburg on September 24, 2022.
