Dutchmen Defense Dominates in Win

ANNVILLE, Pa. — Three interceptions by the defense and a fumble recovery on special teams keyed the Lebanon Valley College football team's 31-3 victory over visiting Misericordia University on Saturday, Sept. 15 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play at Arnold Field. LVC improves to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the MAC. The Cougars fall to 0-3 and 0-2 in conference action.

Noah Caldani, Brody Robinson, and James Jackson all registered interceptions for the Dutchmen who rank among NCAA Division III leaders in team interceptions. LVC now has six interceptions in three games. Caldani also finished as the team's leading tackler with eight, followed by Jacob Horton with seven tackles in another strong performance.

LVC held Misericordia to just 166 total yards of offense and just one trip into the red zone. The three points are the fewest allowed since a 25-2 win over Albright in 2021.

Meanwhile, the Dutchmen offense cranked out 361 yards—its highest output of the young season—and finished a perfect 4-for-4 on red zone opportunities. Nine different players carried the ball to help LVC amass 203 yards on the ground. Malachi Williams led the way with 73 yards on six carries, including a 65-yard sprint that set up the team's first touchdown of the day when Braden Bohannon found Jay Sisko in the endzone

LVC opened the scoring with a Tim Kissinger 24-yard field goal after Jacob Karkoska forced a Misericordia fumble on the opening kickoff and Shawn Fester recovered inside the Cougar 30-yard line.

Holding a 10-3 lead in the second quarter, LVC mounted a drive before halftime that Bohannon capped with a 33-yard strike to Malaki Blair for a 17-3 halftime lead. Blair led the receiving corps with four catches for 73 yards.

The Dutchmen stretched its lead to 24-3 when Dion Bryant scampered for a 16-yard touchdown on LVC's opening drive of the second half. Tanner Lewis scored his first touchdown of the season on a 13-yard quarterback run early in the fourth quarter to set the final score.
