NORTH MANHCESTER, Ind. – The Manchester University football team suffered a conference loss against Hanover in Spartan Stadium on Saturday, October 15th.
The Panthers racked up 225 rushing yards and 290 passing yards, giving them a total of 515 offensive yards while limiting the Spartans to 250 offensive yards en route to a 51-20 victory.
Hanover rushed for four touchdowns, with Austin Oppel leading the Panthers with 109 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Hunter Eads pulled-in 155 receiving yards and two more touchdowns for Hanover, with Yoann Kinanga a perfect 7-7 in point after attempts.
Manchester's quarterback Eric James (Indianapolis, Ind., Decatur Central) put-up 110 passing yards, while David Smith (Indianapolis, Ind., North Central) rushed for 93 yards with two touchdowns for MU. Cam Hall (Savannah, Ga,, Memorial Day), Payton Frye (Indianapolis, Ind., Southport) and Lavar Lesure (Mt. Vernon, Ill., Wheeler) pulled-in a combined 100 receiving yards for the Spartans. Defensively, junior Haylee Smith (Indianapolis, Ind., Charles A. Tindley) had eight solo tackles defensively, while Devontay Moore (Indianapolis, Ind., North Central) added five solo tackles and one assist for the Black and Gold.
Manchester (1-5, 0-3 HCAC) will look to get back into the win column this weekend as it hosts the Bluffton Beavers during homecoming at Spartan Stadium. Kick-off is set for 1:30 p.m. on October 22nd.
Hanover College now moves to (3-3, 3-0 HCAC). The Panthers will look to extend their 3-game winning streak at Mount St. Joseph on Saturday.
