Hissong, Rambur Voted to D3football.com All-Region Team

More news about: Wooster

The College of Wooster's Cole Hissong became the first Fighting Scots' great named D3football.com All-Region in three separate years, and the football team's star tight end was joined on the all-region team by senior guard Colton Rambur. D3football.com announced Hissong as a second-team honoree and Rambur as a third-team selection within Region 4 on Wednesday morning.

Hissong, a 2021 D3football.com and Associated Press All-American, led Wooster with 52 receptions this fall, a season in which he was second on the team in yards and touchdowns at 593 and three, respectively. The three-time D3football.com Preseason All-American holds the program's all-time records in receptions (145), receiving yards (2,020), and touchdowns (18) by a tight end, with the stats ranking third, fifth, and sixth overall in program history, respectively. This fall, Hissong became the first tight end to be named to D3football.com's Team of the Week five times. The education and history major caught the game-winning touchdown with :11 remaining in Wooster's 44-43 win over archrival Wittenberg University, a game in which the Scots stormed back from a 33-7 third-quarter deficit.

Notable, Hissong is Wooster's second three-time D3football.com All-Region selection. Brandon James, who was selected to the team as a special teams player and defensive back in 2014, debuted on the team as a defensive back in 2013.

Rambur is Wooster's third D3football.com All-Region offensive line honoree. The senior debuted on the All-North Coast Athletic Conference squad as a second-team selection this fall. The three-year starter anchored the left guard position and helped Wooster average over 365 yards of offense per game. Rambur was part of a unit that allowed just 17 sacks this fall, and the opposition had zero or one in four contests.

Of note, multiple Wooster players have earned D3football.com All-Region honors in each of the last four seasons the Scots competed. Nominees have to be first- or second-team all-conference selections to be nominated for consideration. D3football.com's All-Region awards began in 2005.
