Twelve Husson Eagles Receive CCC Football All-Conference Honors; Curran Named Defensive Lineman of the Year

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Commonwealth Coast Football (CCC Football) announced the 2021 All-Conference Teams and major award winners on Tuesday (Nov. 16) afternoon. All seven CCC Football teams had student-athletes honored on this year's list with 63 student-athletes recognized in total. Endicott, Husson, and Western New England each had 12 selections to lead the group.

Headlining the group of All-Conference selections for the Eagles is senior defensive lineman Frank Curran, who was named the league's Defensive Lineman of the Year. Curran becomes the first Eagle in program history to earn a major award for the CCC Football.

Curran is joined on the CCC Football All-Conference First Team with sophomore quarterback Nic Visser, senior tailback Garrett Poussard, senior wide receiver Tyler Halls, senior tight end Aidan Hogan, senior right guard Juwan Moore, and junior inside linebacker Tucker Buzzell.

Representing Husson on the All-CCC Football second team were senior left tackle Jacob Cameron, senior wide receiver Jon Bell, senior noise guard David Redmond, senior inside linebacker Kaleb Caron and sophomore cornerback Antwan Turner.

Curran earned the program's first-ever Defensive Lineman of the Year award in program history after his explosive senior season, while earning his third career All-Conference selection. The Portland, Maine native was a force on the Husson defensive line that helped the Eagles put together the league's second-best defense at 17.2 points-allowed per game. Curran had 61 total tackles (32 solo, 29 assisted) and a team-best 4.5 sacks. He also had 11.5 tackles for a loss, forced one fumble, and recovered a fumble. Curran was selected as the CCC Football Defensive Player of the Week during Week 10. The senior captain tailed 208 tackles (108 unassisted, 100 assisted, and 42 for loss), 18 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, a block kick, an interception, and 21 quarterback hurries in 43 career games played. He will leave the program ranked among the top-10 career leaders in quarterback hurries (2nd), sacks (t-3rd), assisted tackles (5th), tackles for loss (t-5th), yards from sacks (61, t-6th), blocked kicks (t-7th), total tackles (8th), yards from tackles for loss (146, 9th) and unassisted tackles (10th).

Visser received his first-career All-Conference selection, while becoming the first quarterback in program history to earn CCC Football First Team honors. The sophomore signal caller completed 193-of-333 pass attempts (58.0%) for 2,598 yards with 19 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 54 times for 188 yards with two touchdowns. In his first season as an Eagle, Visser set the following school records; passes attempted by an individual in a game (51 at Plymouth State) and a season, passes completed by an individual in a game (33 at Plymouth State) and a season, yards gained passing by an individual in a season, passing yards per game average by an individual in a season (259.8), total offense yards by an individual in a game (388 at University of New England) and a season (2,786), total offense plays by an individual in game (59 at Plymouth State), total offense per game average by an individual in a season (278.6).

Poussard collected his first career All-Conference selection after having an outstanding season. The Lewiston, Maine native rushed the ball 178 times for 723 yards and seven touchdowns. He surpassed the 100-yard mark four times this season, while becoming the tenth Eagle in program history to reach the 1000-yard career rushing mark doing so in his final game of the season at Western New England. Poussard also caught two passes for 16 yards.

Halls earned his second career All-Conference selection after notching 58 receptions for 957 yards and seven touchdowns in his senior season. His overall conference ranks include: receptions (2nd), yards (1st), yards per game (1st, 95.7), yards per catch (1st, 16.5), touchdowns (t-4th). Meanwhile, his conference-only games rank as follows: receptions (5th, 29), yards (1st, 555), yards per game (1st, 92.5), yards per catch (1st, 19.1), and touchdowns (t-3rd, 5). The senior captain recorded 157 pass receptions, 2332 pass reception yards, and 20 pass reception touchdowns in 31 career games. He will leave the program as the all-time career leader in pass receptions, pass reception yards and receptions-per-game average (5.06), while being ranked among the program's top-10 career leaders in pass reception touchdowns (2nd), all-purchase yards (5th, 2424), punt return yards (7th, 92), punt returns (7th, 13), total points scored (8th, 120), and all-purpose yards per game (9th, 78.2). Halls is the second player in program history to record 100 career catches, 1,500 career receiving yards and 15 or more career receiving touchdowns. Halls also broke the program's single-game record for most passes caught with 14 at Plymouth State.

Hogan collected his second career All-Conference selection after recording career-high 45 catches for 432 yards with four touchdowns in his senior season. He also broke his single-season record for most catches by a tight end and was a highly effective blocker as well. In 37 career games, Hogan caught 99 passes for 972 yards with 15 touchdowns. He will leave the program ranked among the top-10 career leaders in pass receptions (3rd), pass reception touchdowns (4th), pass reception yards (6th), and pass receptions per game (6th, 2.38), while also holding the records most catches, yards and touchdowns by a tight end in program history.

Moore claimed his first career All-Conference honor, while Cameron received his fourth career All-Conference nod after helping pave the way for an Eagle offense that put up 4,039 yards of total offense in 2021. The line was also key in pass protection, surrendering only 12 sacks on the season. Cameron also became the first offensive lineman in program history to earn four All-Conference accolades.

Bell made his first career All-Conference appearance after recording 1,026 all-purpose yards and five total touchdowns. The all-purpose player rushed for 73 yards on 15 carries with two rushing touchdowns, caught 49 passes for 753 yards with four touchdowns, and returned four punts for 26 yards and four kickoffs for 174 yards on the season.

Buzzell grabbed his first career All-Conference award after compiling 85 tackles (48 solo, 37 assisted, 8.5 per game, 3.5 tackles for loss), two interceptions, a forced fumble, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery for the Eagles.

Redmond earned his first career All-Conference selection after being a force on the Eagle defensive line in 2021. He recorded 41 tackles (24 solo, 17 assisted, 5.5 per game, 5.5 tackles for loss), a sack, a blocked kick and forced one fumble. The Westbrook, Maine native tallied 111 tackles (57 unassisted, 17 assisted, 15 for loss), 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, a block kick, an interception in 28 career games played.

Turner collected his first career All-Conference selection after serving as one of the most reliable members of the Eagles' secondary this season behind his 47 total stops (34 solo, 13 assisted). He also stuffed the stat sheet even more by disrupting the opposing ball carrier once behind the line of scrimmage, recovering one fumble and breaking up eight passes (the most on the team) in ten games played.

Caron landed on his third career All-Conference squad after totaling 80 stops (43 solo, 37 assisted, 8.0 per game, 5.5 for loss) with 2.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, an interception and three pass breakups in his final season wearing an Eagle uniform. The senior captain tallied 183 tackles (97 solo, 86 assisted, 19.5 for loss) with 7.5 sacks, four fumble recoveries, an interception and seven pass breakups in 36 career games played.
