Game Summary

  • First Quarter: Ursinus didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard as Psenicska hit DePrince for a 54 yard reception to set up Ragland for an eight-yard plunge into the end zone on the opening drive. Gettysburg attempted to answer as Edmond, making his first start in nearly two years, found senior Sal DeBenedetto (Old Tappen, N.J./Northern Valley) for a 39-yard reception to get into Bear territory, but a hold brought the play back after only six yards. Ragland added a second rushing score following a 71-yard drive later in the quarter to push the Bears in front 14-0.
  • Second Quarter: Gettysburg's defense held Ursinus to just six yards on its first two possessions of the second quarter and then forced a turnover as Adedinsewo picked off a pass from the third time this season. The Bullets were unable to take advantage of the turnover, while the Bears converted a pair of third-downs to score on their final drive of the half and take a 21-0 lead heading into the locker room.
  • Third Quarter: Psenicska completed a 13-yard touchdown pass to Octavious Carte on fourth down on Ursinus' first possession of the second half. On Gettysburg's next possession, Edmond found a wide open Lusardi streaking up the middle of the field and the senior tight end bolted 87 yards to the end zone. The extra point made it 28-7 with 6:22 left. The Bears answered immediately, marching 65 yards in seven plays with Ragland crossing the goal line for a 35-7 lead.
  • Fourth Quarter: Ursinus turned in its longest drive spanning the third and fourth quarters, covering 83 yards in eight plays. Ragland scored his fourth touchdown of the contest, hauling in a 13-yard pass from Psenicska. Gettysburg recovered a muffed punt return to set up another touchdown. Vass carried the load early in the drive with three carries totaling 26 yards and Edmond provided the rest, posting an eight-yard rush and two completed passes, the second of which found junior Todd Isenburg (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards) in the back of the end zone. Another fumble by the Bears set up the game's final touchdown. Vass totaled 31 yards on five carries with a one-yard dive across the goal line setting the final score with 37 seconds remaining.

By the Numbers

  • Ursinus out-gained Gettysburg 474-269. The Bullets finished with the edge in rushing yards (109-94).
  • Edmond was making his first start of the season at quarterback after missing the team's first seven games due to injury. He appeared in all 10 games as a freshman, including starting each of the last six games.
  • Edmond's pass to Lusardi tied for the third-longest reception in program history. Edmond holds the record for longest touchdown reception with a 98-yard toss to DeBenedetto against Juniata in 2019.
