More news about: Husson

BIDDEFORD, Maine - Husson University outscored the University of New England by 27 over the final three quarters on its way to a 41-14 victory in the inaugural Lobster Trap Game at UNE Blue Storm Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Husson (5-2, 2-1 CCC Football) drove down the field on a long 14-play, 76-yard drive on its first possession to take a 7-0 lead with 5:58 to play in the opening quarter. Garrett Poussard ran in for the early touchdown.

Following a punt by UNE (3-3, 1-2 CCC Football), Michael Lemay was able to punch the ball free on the first play of the ensuing drive. Ryan Turner scooped up the loose ball and scampered down the sideline 26 yards into the endzone to knot the score at 7-7.

Tyler Halls hauled in a 41-yard catch and capped the Eagles' next scoring drive with a 13-yard touchdown to put Husson in front 14-7 at halftime.

The Eagles scored twice more in the third quarter. Poussard ran in for his second of the day to start the third quarter. Another long pass to Halls, this time 42 yards, setup a seven yard catch by Adian Hogan to extend the lead to 28-7 after three quarters.

A quick three-and-out forced the Eagles to punt the ball back to the Nor'easters, who begin their next drive at the Husson 28-yard line.  Jakob Rivers grabbed a 21-yard pass to start the drive and three plays later Parker Belsky caught a touchdown to trim the deficit to 28-14.

Jon Bell took any momentum earned by UNE back as he nearly took the kickoff the distance before being brought down by the Nor'easters kicker on the five yard line. Nic Visser tossed his third score of the day to Wenston Dinizio to extend the lead back to three scores. Hogan grabbed his second TD of the day with 3:06 to go for the final margin.
