Pardi, Renteria On This Week's D3football.com Team of the Week

More news about: Wooster

Following milestone-filled performances, The College of Wooster's Matt Pardi and Mateo Renteria have been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, as announced by the popular website that covers NCAA Div. III football extensively on Tuesday morning.

Pardi averaged a school-record 55.5 yards over four punts as the Fighting Scots knocked off previously undefeated Wabash College 44-41 on Saturday. Pardi was instrumental in the closing seconds by handling a high snap with great efficiency, then getting off a 55-yard punt to Wabash's 20-yard line, as the Little Giants took over with just :25 remaining. Earlier in the fourth quarter, Pardi pinned Wabash at its own 1-yard line, thanks to a career-best 66-yard punt. His other punts in Saturday's game covered 59 and 44 yards.

Of note, Pardi's currently averaging 46.0 yards per punt on the season, and he has Wooster ranked fifth nationally in net punting average.

Renteria, this week's North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week, completed 28-of-41 passes for a career-high 408 yards in Saturday's win. He was responsible for four touchdowns overall, as Wooster put up the most points on Wabash in a game played in Crawfordsville, Indiana since 2008. Renteria's 408 yards are the sixth-most in program history, and marked the eighth time a Wooster signal-caller surpassed 400 yards.

Wooster's at four D3football.com Team of the Week honorees this season. Sophomore defensive back Kobe Nadu was selected following a pick-six fumble return on opening weekend and senior tight end Cole Hissong was chosen after a three-touchdown game versus DePauw University on September 25.

Wooster (4-2, 3-2 NCAC) is at Denison University (4-2, 4-1 NCAC) for a 3 p.m. game on Saturday, October 19.
