Brockport's Coad Named Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week for Second Time in Three Weeks

Junior running back Jala Coad was named the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks in a release by the conference office on Monday.

Coad carried the ball 38 times for 167 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns to lead the way for Brockport in Saturday's 26-14 home win over Utica. His 13-yard second quarter touchdown catch gave Brockport a 10-0 lead and he also helped the Golden Eagles secure the victory with a one-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Coad has scored at least one touchdown in all six games this season. He leads the conference and ranks ninth nationally in both total rushing yards (804) and rushing yards per game (134.0). He also leads the league and ranks in the top 25 nationally with 10 total touchdowns this season. On Saturday, he moved into fifth on the program's all-time list with 2,353 career rushing yards and he now has 24 career rushing touchdowns. 

Brockport is now 4-2 overall and 2-1 in league play this season.  The Golden Eagles return home Saturday when they host Hartwick College as part of the College's Homecoming Weekend festivities at 1 p.m.
