Cummings Earns Spot on D3football.com Team of the Week

More news about: Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa.  – Senior Doug Cummings (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) added another weekly award to his resume following a record-breaking performance against No. 23 Muhlenberg College last Saturday, becoming the first kicker from Gettysburg College to be named to the D3football.com Team of the Week in 13 years.

Cummings became the first Bullet kicker on the D3football.com weekly team since Josh Huson '09 in 2008 thanks to a record-breaking field goal against the Mules. The senior booted a 55-yard field in the third quarter of last Saturday's affair, besting the Gettysburg College mark by seven yards and topping the Centennial record by three yards. Cummings added a 29-yard field goal in the game along with an extra-point, six punts averaging 30.5 yards, and four kickoffs averaging 61.5 yards. The senior also contributed defensively with a pair of tackles on returns.

On the season, Cummings has connected on a league-high seven field goals. Three of his field goals have gone for 40-plus yards and he has hit his last six attempts. The senior is also averaging 35.4 yards per punt and 58.1 yards per kickoff this season. Defensively, Cummings has totaled five tackles in five games.

Gettysburg enters the conference-wide bye week this week before heading to Susquehanna University (5-0, 4-0 CC) on Friday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m.
