Keystone Drops Shootout with Anna Maria 55-35

La PLUME, Pa. – Saturday's football contest at Keystone College featured 90 points and 925 combined total offensive yards but the Giants came out on the wrong end, falling 55-35 to the visiting Anna Maria College Amcats in the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) opener for both teams.

The Giants fall to 0-5 (0-1 ECFC) while Anna Maria improves to 3-1 (1-0 ECFC).

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Kevin Lewis (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) and Mujaheed Muhammad (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson) combined for three rushing scores as Muhammad scampered for a team-high 122 yards on 12 carries, with a long of 58.

Tom Roach (Burlington City, N.J./Burlington City) went 20-of-24 through the air for 266 yards, connecting with Jorden Cook (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) on a 35-yard TD to start the 4th quarter. Cook finished with five catches for 73 yards. Roach also provided a three-yard TD run in the 3rd.

Chad Jones (Bear, Del./Alexis I. DuPont) hauled in seven passes for 83 yards while Zac Cost (Dalton, Pa./Lycoming College) and Javier Tazza (Burlington City, N.J./Burlington City) enjoyed multiple receptions.

Defensively, Jerrel Springer (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) tallied 10 total tackles while Sean Tocci (Lodi, N.J./Lodi)Maxwell Johnson (Wilmington, Del./St. Thomas Aquinas College) and Joe Manfredo (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) finished with eight, seven and seven stops, respectively. Sean Pettway (Ellenville, N.Y./Ellenville) tallied five tackles and a blocked extra point in the 1st quarter.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Both teams combined for 50 first downs as AMC enjoyed five passing TDs on the day from Alex Cohen. Kristian Sapp rushed for 150 yards and two TDs while David Robinson caught three TDs. AMC rushed for 233 yards and threw for 285 in a balanced attack.

Keystone went 6-of-12 on third down and 2-of-4 on fourth down as the Giants went 4-of-5 in the red zone.

Keystone heads to Gallaudet University on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 12 pm in an ECFC contest. AMC hosts Alfred State on Oct. 16.
