Bullets Football Announces Staff Updates

More news about: Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg College Head Coach Maurice Banks has announced several updates to the football coaching staff heading into the 2021 campaign.

Mike Hoyt, who has served as Defensive Coordinator since arriving at Gettysburg in the spring of 2018, has been elevated to Associate Coach. Additionally, he will organize the team's recruiting efforts and continue to serve as the athletic department's Strength and Conditioning Coordinator. Hoyt brings over two decades of coaching experience to the table for Banks with his most recent stops at Franklin & Marshall College, McDaniel College, and Albright College before coming to the Bullets.

After seven seasons coaching on both sides of the ball, Andy Dicken has been elevated to Offensive Coordinator. Dicken has mentored both the defensive backs and the wide receivers during his career at Gettysburg and he'll aim to guide the whole offense this fall. In his first two seasons coaching the wide receivers, Dicken doubled the number of players with 100 or more receiving yards on the year. A former standout quarterback at Millikin University, he will mentor the Gettysburg quarterbacks this fall as well.

Patrick Galloway has been added as a full-time member of the staff after serving in a part-time role last year. The former Ohio Northern University assistant will oversee Gettysburg's offensive line and manage the team's social media presence in 2021.

Finally, Nick Ulassin '15 will add the title of Special Teams Coordinator heading into his fourth season at his alma mater. The former tailback returned to Gettysburg in 2018 after three seasons as an assistant at Wingate University and Western New England University. Ulassin was a key special teams contributor as a Bullet, setting a program record with 41 kick return yards for 840 yards in 2011. Ulassin will also continue to coach the defensive backs alongside his special teams duties.

Banks has yet to lead the Bullets onto the turf with competition cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-21. He will make is official Orange and Blue coaching debut on the field this fall when Gettysburg heads to Bridgewater College on Saturday, Sept. 4, at 1:30 p.m.

"As a coaching staff we've used the last year to develop and grow together despite the circumstances that prevented playing a full competitive season," said Banks. "I'm excited to see what each of our coaches can do this fall when we return to play."
