OLIVET, Mich. – Kyle Thomas rolled up 152 all-purpose yards – he rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown and added 69 receiving yards – as Albion College completed the football season with a 30-21 victory over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Olivet College.

Albion finished an 8-2 season under first-year head coach Dustin Beurer. It is the best record for a first-year coach at Albion since Tom Taylor's 1969 squad achieved an 8-0 record.

Albion never trailed as it scored on its first possession of the day. Jack Bush connected with Kolby Canfield for gains of 15 and 20 yards before hooking up with Justin Thomas for a 36-yard score. Justin Thomas finished the season with 17 touchdown receptions, an Albion single season record.

Bush completed 18-of-23 passes on the day for 244 yards.

Olivet answered with a 12-play drive that took more than six minutes. Noah McMinn did most of the work, including a 2-yard touchdown run that tied the score at 7-7 late in the first quarter.

Albion took the lead for good when Josh Castillo kicked a 21-yard field goal with 19 seconds left in the first half.

Albion got its big break when the defense forced a three-and-out on Olivet's first series of the second half and Jared Collins blocked the punt that was recovered at the Olivet 1-yard line. Markell McCoy scored on the next play as Albion extended the lead to 17-7.

Kyle Thomas got loose down the right sideline for a 49-yard touchdown run and Castillo added two field goals (from 28 and 39 yards out) to complete Albion's scoring.

Levi Ladd led the Albion defense with 10 tackles.
