More news about: Berry

ROME, Ga. — The Berry College football team defeated Austin College 55-28 this afternoon on Senior Day, clinching the program's fourth consecutive Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championship and third straight trip to the NCAA Playoffs.

With the win, Berry improves to 9-1 on the year and finished 7-1 in league play. Austin College closes their season 5-5 and 4-4 in conference play. The Vikings also extended their home winning streak to 22-straight contests and the seniors who were honored today have still never lost a game at Valhalla.

Berry awaits the NCAA selection show tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. where their first round opponent and contest location will be announced.

The Vikings put up 17 points in the opening quarter thanks to an interception return for a touchdown by A.M. Harris, a Trey Gregory field goal and the first of Isaiah Dawson's program-record four rushing touchdowns today. Dawson kick started the scoring in the second quarter with a 41-yard carry before a 60-yard scamper for another score a few drives later. Darius Barnum also added a rushing score in the quarter, helping the Vikings carry a 41-14 lead into halftime.

Austin quarterback Colt Collins broke free for a pair of long touchdown runs in the third quarter, but the Vikings answered with freshman Jimmy Decker's first career receiving score in the third. Dawson added his fourth rushing score in the final period to ice the game.

Berry finished with 537 yards of total offense, led by big days from Gavin Gray, Dawson and Mason Kinsey
