Kalamazoo Loses Home Finale to Hope

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College football team lost its home finale 49-21 to Hope College on Saturday.

Hope led 14-0 midway through the first quarter before Kalamazoo made it a 14-7 game early in the second following Jared Pittman's 2-yard touchdown run.

Hope pulled ahead 21-7 five minutes later, but Kalamazoo again got within seven with a 51-yard touchdown pass from Cam Crothers to Bubba Wilson with 6:44 left in the second quarter. The score remained 21-14 at halftime.

Hope scored twice in the third quarter and twice in the fourth quarter before Kalamazoo scored again late in the fourth on a 52-yard touchdown pass from Crothers to Wilson.

Greg Kearns converted all three extra points for the Hornets.

Cam Crothers was 18-of-33 passing for 191 yards with the two touchdowns.

Bubba Wilson made four catches for 99 yards including the two scores. Jared Pittman had eight catches for 47 yards.

Pittman also rushed for 60 yards on 12 carries while Crothers had 25 yards on nine carries.

Jacob Chantres led the Hornet defense with 12 total tackles. Jake Sypniewski and Josh Martin each had 11 tackles while Nick Lang and Dakota Walbeck each had 10. Chantres, Martin, and Alex Stockwell each had a sack.

Kalamazoo wraps up the season at Trine next Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.
