SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Sewanee football team saw a 51-12 setback to Trinity University in a Southern Athletic Association contest from the Trinity Football Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-On Trinity's opening possession, the team used a seven-play, 40-yard drive that resulted in a 29-yard field goal by Charlie Sheppard to start the scoring, 3-0.
-After Sewanee was forced to punt on their first possession, the home team did not take long to score their first touchdown of the game. On the first play from scrimmage, Wyatt Messex fired a 67-yard touchdown reception to Chris Stewart for the score. However, a failed point-after-attempt made it a 9-0 lead.
-Trinity added three touchdowns in the second quarter, but Brody Palmer converted a 30-yard and 46-yard field goal to make it a 30-6 Trinity lead at the half.
-TU added three more scores in the third before Sewanee found the end zone with 7:25 left in the fourth quarter on a 13-yard run by Cooper Hancock.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Of the 27 completions by Sewanee quarterbacks, 12 different receivers had at least one catch. Micah Maes led with eight catches for 64 yards, while David Traynor had six catches for 41 yards.
-Cooper Hancock threw for 151 yards on 17-of-37 passing and had a rushing touchdown.
-Pierce Johnson had nine total tackles, three for a loss with a sack.
-Wesley Porter and Alex Coffield also had nine tackles each.
TRINITY KEY STATISTICS
-Wyatt Messex had 273 yards through the air on 14-of-18 completions and four scores.
-Chris Stewart caught 114 yards on seven catches and scored two touchdowns.
-Eddy Luna led the Texas Tigers with eight total tackles, while Caleb Harmel and Michael Jewett had seven stops each.
