More news about: Millikin

After making a stellar comeback, the Millikin football team lost in heartbreaking fashion 53-50 to Carthage College on October 19 at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Illinois.

Carthage's David Collins hit a 46 yard field goal as the game clock expired to give the Red Men the three point victory.

Carthage jumped out to a 28-7 advantage after the first quarter, but Millikin battled back posting two touchdowns in each of the second, third and fourth quarters and tied the game at 50-50 with 4:15 remaining in the game when Cal Pohrte connected with Jordan Smith from 27 yards out.

Carthage had 483 yards of total offense while Millikin gained 349 yards.

Carthage led 35-21 at halftime, but the Big Blue defense shut down the Red Men attack in the third quarter.  Four yard and eight yard touchdown runs by Millikin's Richard Cosey made it a 35-35 game at the end of three quarters.

Carthage went up 43-35 with 11:21 left in the game on a four yard run by Dana Fontenot and the two point conversion.

Millikin answered with a 33 yard pass and successful two point conversion from Pohrte to Smith to tie the game at 43-43.

The Red Men then countered with an eight yard pass from Klein to Jovonne Stricker to make it 50-43.

Pohrte finished the game 25-41 passing for 349 yards and five touchdowns.  Smith had 12 catches for 200 yards and four touchdowns.  Colton Lockwood had eight catches for 102 yards.
