BALTIMORE, MD – Two members of the Johns Hopkins football team have been named to the 2018 CoSIDA Google Cloud Division III Academic All-America Football Team it was announced today.  Senior defensive lineman Anthony Davidson (Cuddy, PA/South Fayette) was named to the first team, while junior quarterback David Tammaro (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly) was named to the second team.  The two selections boost Johns Hopkins' all-time number of Academic All-Americans in football to 33.
 
This is the eighth straight year that head coach Jim Margraff's team has had two or more Academic All-Americans.
 
To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-All-America honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, be a sophomore or above and a starter or significant reserve.
 
Davidson is majoring in neuroscience and carries a 3.96 cumulative grade point average.  He makes the jump to the first team this season after garnering second team honors as a junior.  He is the 15^th Johns Hopkins football player to earn First Team Academic All-America honors and this is the fifth time a Blue Jay defensive lineman has been named to the first team .
 
A First Team All-Centennial Conference and Third Team D3football.com All-South selection, Davidson finished third on the team in tackles this season (67) and was also second in tackles for losses (13.5) and sacks (6.0).  He concluded his career with 114 tackles, including 24.5 tackles for losses and 13.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles.
 
Davidson has served as a Laboratory Research Assistant in the lab for Child Development at Johns Hopkins, has twice completed surgical shadowing programs, worked as a Teaching Assistant (Organic Chemistry) and a Study Consultant and has served as the class liaison for the Johns Hopkins football team in its Be the Match Bone Marrow Drive and its adoption of a child cancer survivor through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.
 
 Tammaro is the first Johns Hopkins quarterback to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors and he adds this to a list of accomplishments from the 2018 season that includes Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Centennial Conference and First Team D3football.com All-South.
 
An applied mathematics and statistics and economics major with a 3.33 cumulative GPA, Tammaro was 303-of-451 for 4,111 yards and 35 touchdowns against just seven interceptions this season.  His marks for attempts, completions and yards are all Johns Hopkins single-season records, while his 35 touchdown passes tie the school record.
 
Tammaro has served as a summer research assistant in the Johns Hopkins Institute for Applied Economics and as the Vice President of the Johns Hopkins University Financial Analyst Club,
 
Johns Hopkins posted a 12-2 record, won its 10th consecutive Centennial Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Semifinals for the first time in program history this season.  The Blue Jays' eight straight NCAA Playoff appearances ranks as the third-longest active streak in the nation and Johns Hopkins ranks fourth in the nation in overall winning percentage since the start of the 2013 season (.889 / 64-8 overall record).
