Ripon Freshman Quarterback Cormac Madigan Wins MWC North Newcomer of the Year Award

GRINNELL, Iowa - Ripon College Freshman Quarterback Cormac Madigan has been named Midwest Conference North Division Newcomer of the Year, as released Tuesday by the conference office.

A Chemistry-Biology major from Rosendale, Wis., Madigan led the conference in rushing yards with 1,109, which ranks seventh in school history for a single season. He also scored 13 rushing touchdowns, which were tied for the most in the MWC, and is tied for ninth in program history. Also named to the MWC's All Conference First Team, Madigan averaged 7.4 yards per carry, while also throwing for 318 yards and three touchdowns.

One of the highlights of Madigan's season came in a 49-14 win against Beloit, which saw him record a single game school record six rushing touchdowns. He also rushed for 281 yards in that game, which ranks second in school history, and is just 12 yards shy of the single game school rushing record. Madigan also scored four rushing touchdowns in a 58-34 win against Macalester, which is tied for ninth in school history for a single game.
