ADA — The Ohio Northern football team dropped a 49-17 decision to No. 10-ranked John Carroll on Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears fall to 4-2 overall and are 3-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Blue Streaks improve to 5-1, 4-1.

Junior Anthony McFadden (Chillicothe/Paint Valley) completed 11-of-28 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown and ran 18 times for 41 yards to lead the ONU offense.

JCU was led by a pair of 100-yard rushers, as Anthony Moeglin ran 16 times for 126 yards and completed 14-of-22 passes for 254 yards and two scores and Michael Canganelli ran 25 times for 109 yards and three scores.

After a scoreless first quarter, the two teams exploded for 42 points in the final 12 minutes of the half.

The Polar Bears got on the board first when sophomore A.J. Marks (Guysville/Alexander) ran in from nine yards out with 11:38 to go in the second quarter.

JCU answered with a pair of touchdowns, but ONU tied the game at 14-all when McFadden hit sophomore Anthony Amison (Holland/Rogers) on a 71-yard touchdown pass with 5:27 left in the half.

Canganelli banged in from one yard out with 1:51 left to put JCU up 21-14, and Chad Stalnaker returned a fumble 17 yards for a score with 52 seconds left in the half to make it 28-14.

ONU pulled within 28-17 when senior Chase Watson (Lima/Elida) drilled a 22-yard field goal with 6:48 left in the third period.

John Carroll then scored on its next two possessions to take a 42-17 lead after three quarters and tacked on a fourth quarter touchdown to wrap up the scoring.

Junior David Haseleu (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) had a career-high 13 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and two PBUs to lead the ONU defense.

The Polar Bears will take to the road next Saturday with a 1:30 pm contest at Capital.
